Gone Until December
So I saw this come through reverbnation, and from just reading the desired Genres sort of speaks to the fact that they aren't thinking surf music. But hey, what do THEY know right? I think we should all submit our latest surf music and flood them with surf music options. Who knows, maybe they'll change their approach? Anyway I think surf bands should be featured in surf movies. Just my take on it.

I was just arguing with some of the people at the Surf Museum meeting
last night, how the general public, and even surfers don't listen to surf music anymore, and we need to do something about that.

My instructor told me about this. He's going to put some music in. I think everyone should submit songs. What's the worst that can happen??? They mention instrumental.....conveniently forget the rest of the description. I was planning on starting an educational campaign after this. We need to get the word out. I watch vids on my computer while I work on songs.......the songs fit pretty well. May take me a bit, as I'm finishing up the semester. Will start a thread when I get rolling.

it makes me sad to see surf videos with no surf music in them....one of our local semi-pros is putting together a segment for a surf movie project called 'intersection' and i heard a clip of music he's using and it was techno! not even close to capturing the mood.

I think every band on here should submit. Maybe they just don't know about the music. How often do we try???? Having watched a bunch of films myself, I think it fits great. The worst that can happen is we get told "no thanks". Maybe something will catch an ear, and open the door for us.

i can understand surf films not having 'surf' music in them, some of the more entertaining surf films out there have an avant garde edge to the sound track.
i think the best way to get instrumental surf rock into a surf film is to do something edgy and out of the norm with it,,, that's what i would want to hear anyways

It would be nice to submit. But, it seems this is more a ploy to get you to try out the Reverb Nation Press Kit than anything. You have to sign up for at least a free trial in order to submit...this includes putting in your credit card info.

Ditto. It seemed like a marketing ploy

Our bass player checked into this. Here's what he told me:
They want us to use their “Reverb Nation” electronic press kit, a requirement for submission. $5.95 a month, or (if I remember correctly) $55 a year. So, I could have applied with for a free trial, but when I get to that page, they then ask for a credit card number.
They appear to be in bed with Reverb Nation.

If they are looking for tracks on "Reverb Nation" then there is no money in it. And if they don't pay then you shouldn't give them songs. very simple.
