Permalink Thunder Alley movier trailer (Davie Allan)

New Topic
Goto Page: 1 2 Next

This film from A.I.P. was mentioned in another thread and the trailer features a couple of Davie Allan songs along with a nice mix of some violent stock car racing footage, ass shaking alcohol fueled partying and soft-core sexiness. Although the shots employing rear projection are somewhat embarrassing. I was actually expecting a documentary/action/adventure type of film when it was first mentioned, not the typical Annette/Fabian yarn, but it looks like fun. Especially the race and stunt footage.

Now that's a movie!

It's kinda irritating how they edited the main theme song on this trailer, haha. I love "Pete's orgy" for the party scene, such a bad ass song.

The Deadbeats

Born Losers trailer. This is actually a pretty good movie.

The Deadbeats

Here's some more trash cinema, of the Biker type, for ya'!

The Deadbeats

I didn't realize that John Cassavetes did any biker films. Probably for the money to fund his own films. His character in "Rosemary's Baby" has to be cinemas the most evil ever. Allowing his wife to be raped by the devil then selling out his first born son's soul to the devil just to advance his career...

Those trailers are cool with some great one-liners. Is "Born Losers" Billy Jacks origin?

Twisted Evil > Angel

You know I still haven't really seen "Rosemary's Baby". I might have to look it up on Net-Flix.

BTW yeah those trailers are fun to watch. I'm sure most of those films are pretty terrible. If you don't already have it, you should get the "Devil's Rumble: Davie Allan & the Arrows Anthology '64-'68". Most of those tunes featured on those clips are on that release. Also, yes "Born Losers" is the original Billy Jack film.

The Deadbeats

Damn! Too late to add a spoiler alert. Sorry.

I do have the "Devils' Rumble" anthology, which came with the world's most brittle jewel case, so I've heard those songs in the trailers, but "The Devil's Angels" is the only biker movie I can remember seeing. Not counting "Race With The Devil", "The Wild One's". "Little Fauss and Big Halsy" or Joe Namath's, "C.C. Rider". I need Net-Flix or something to get a hold of "Born Losers". Billy Jack was a bit of a cultural phenomenom when I was a kid. Stoner kids wore Billy Jack hats, but they weren't like the cowboy hat he wears in the trailer.

I dig this stuff! Here's one of my favorite trash biker flicks... THE GLORY STOMPERS with Dennis Hopper and Jody McCrea from the Beach Party flicks. Killer Soundtrack by Davie Allan as well.

Those trailers are awesome. Sex, drugs and violence. I'll add this trailer, but it's a recently produced exploitation film that was shot here in Sonoma County. A rarity. Haven't seen it, as there was no theatrical release, but it was featured at Sundance and now it's been released on DVD. Been described as Sons of Anarchy meets horror meets David Lynch. We'll see.

No sweat. I already knew what the plot of "Rosemary's Baby" was, haha.

Norm, that one looks pretty cool too. I love the theme song. That instrumental version isn't even available on the original soundtrack so it's cool to at least hear it on this trailer. Have you seen, "The Trip"? I saw that one years ago, fuckin' weird. Anyways, there was an Arrows song that was suppose to be on the soundtrack to that movie but ended up on "The Glory Stompers". The song is called, "The Stomper's and the Souls".

Joe, that movie looks pretty cool. It's on Net-Flix. I'm gonna watch it out now thanks.

The Deadbeats

Hey Abe, yeah I too wish the instro version of The Glory Stompers was on the soundtrack. Still a killer soundtrack. I have it on LP! THE TRIP is definetly fun. There's also PSYCH OUT... San Francisco hippy shenannigans with and appearance by The Seeds! Stay away from the brown acid! Although, my all-time favorite from this era is definetly THE WILD ANGELS, HELLS ANGELS ON WHEELS is pretty fun too featuring Jack Nicholson and a brief appearance by Sonny Barger founder of the Angels... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oX5dXOEEow

Nice! Maybe if that soundtrack ever get's re-issued we'll be able to get that version as a bonus. "The Wild Angels" looks cool, is still need to see that one. Check out this video edited with clips from "Hells Angels on Wheels" and music by the Arrows with "Cycle-Delic"!

The Deadbeats

Such a killer tune. Wall of Fuzz. Davie rules. Makes me fall of the edge of my mind. Love that Frisco Footage. Park Presidio and what not.

Yup! That tune is Davie's magnum opus packed full of psychedelic Instro-Mind-Fuck. It'll melt your brain, pierce your eardrums and leave you craving for sick kicks. Ya' gotta give credit to Drew Bennett on bass and Larry Brown on the drums. Such a badass song.

The Deadbeats

^Fuzz plus wah-wah is a potent cocktail.
Abe, let me know if The Violent Kind is worth viewing.

Twisted Evil > Angel

I'm not much of a biker culture fan but really like the biker exploitation movies of the 1966-68 period. Simply being a lot of fun, often shot in interesting settings and always having great soundtracks. And I agree with Norm that The Wild Angels is the best of the lot and is a really good film on its own. And for all fuzz fans on here, here's some news about The Angry Breed which will have a split 45 EP out with Italian fuzz kings The Hangee V early next year.

Brian, I agree. It was great to finally see him play even if it was just a couple of songs. Also, it was cool to meet him, such a nice guy. I spoke to him for a while at the SG101 Convention.

Ah, yes. Pigi told me about this. Sounds pretty kick ass. I can't wait for this 45 to come out. That Angry Breed stuff is great and I really love the Hangee V. They always use tons o' fuzz, one of my favorite bands. Check out their version of Invasion by the Arrows.

The Deadbeats

Yeah, the Hangees are the coolest and I think the record will turn out great. Cover artwork will be drawn by Shawn Dickinson, who I'm sure will be doing a great job on it.

And for anyone here collecting Davie Allan soundtracked biker movies, The Glory Stompers have finally got an official release on DVD (although it's "manufactured on demand" DVD-R...) as have Devil's Angels which is available for pre-order but haven't got a release date yet.
