Permalink Amplitube I-Rig Phone App

New Topic

Any one ever tried this? I am about to get a new phone... I am between an I Phone and a Samsung Galaxy S2. The I Phone can run this Amplitube app which I think could be a lot of fun and useful. Questions:

  1. Has any one tried this out?

  2. Should I wait for an app to come out for Droid based phones?

I am not really a fan of Apple or their business model. I would prefer a Droid based phone however that app is so tempting to me!

One of the guys from the company that made the app was even on here for a while plugging it.

Thanks for posting that Brian. I wonder if any one else has tried it since then and if any one knows about a possible Android release. To me this seems like just a fun way to be able to jam whenever. Not a serious recording/performing product by any means.

I'm not an Apple fan either. I had an iPhone and I will never go back to it. I'm on a Droid X2 right now and I love it, I had the original Droid before that. They kill the iPhone. The Prime phones are coming out soon, you should hold off for those. They should be for each of the carriers, it is the new "Nexus" phone from Google. Should be coming out within the next month, announcement coming sometime next month. It is very very powerful and has a new Android OS(Ice Cream Sandwich/4.0).

I do rather detest Apple, but people are developing for that platform more than Android. At least for music based apps. I almost bought an iPad just for this app: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=kVdFLYCWSjg

I went for actual sequencer hardware instead, I have no need for a tablet that doesn't have handwriting recognition.

Nice... I was actually more interested in the Samsung Galaxy S2. That app is just killing me though. Even though it probably does not sound great, it is calling to me. I think these type of apps are better suited for an Ipad or tablet type device as opposed to a smart phone anyway.

I'm actually intrigued with the iphone 4S, but I'm waiting for the reviews for it and the Nexus first. I might get the 4S mainly for the camera (to replace an aging Casio 7.2MP camera and my Flip), though I don't care much about the voice feature. It sounds pretty rude, if you ask me.

Matt, wait for the new Prime phones, they will be better than the Galaxy S2. The S2 is a great phone, but the specs on the Primes are looking amazing. And it will run Android 4.0.

My issue is my contract ends in 2 weeks and I am switching providers, so I will need a new phone. hmmmmm

You can go past the contract, right? I've always done that in the past. It is just the same price.

Yeah, I suppose that is a possibility. Thanks for the heads up on this.
