Permalink 1974 Fender Vibrosonic w new Weber 15" - $525 or trade

New Topic

theres a guy in Nashville named Grant Johnson selling this Vibrosonic on Craigslist for only $525 - or he'll trade it for a Deluxe Reverb or something like that. his phone # is 615 438 4673

Here's a link to the listing:

http://nashville.craigslist.org/msg/267318981.html

I checked with him and it is stillavailable today Wedensday at around 1pm PST.

You can call him directly at at 615 438 4673 and also email him directly at his email address - bigmonkey@bigmonkey.com

It's a nice amp and has a great Surf Sound - similar to a VibroKing in my opinion. he just wants something smaller to carry around and use to play his Steel guitar.

GOOD LUCK ALL! Hope somebody here nabs it.

wow - even if it's a 100w master volume version (and a decent tech will
make that blackface for not too much.)

if only there wasn't an ocean between us.... this would fetch triple at least in europe.

someone grab this quick!

$.02

I played through 2 of those a while back, both put to blackface specs. they were set up for an electric piano player (Rhodes) to have stereo pan across the stage. I found them to be somewhat cold for electric guitar, didn't have much fender warmth and sparkle like on my BF amps.

Could just be those, but I've heard that sentiment echoed elsewhere.

to throw in an extra 2 cents

it's the same amp as the same period twin, showman, quad and six reverb. only thing different is that this one has an 8ohm tranny instead of the usual 4 ohm. but the rest is really exactly the same.

testimony of an individual amp doesn't mean much in these cases, they all sound different due to maintenance and biasing and individual modding ("blackfaced" is a dubious concept Confused ) Im not saying this one sounds great, Im just saying it might, and with some extra cash for a tech's TLC it definately will. but that goes for any vintage amp, even a '66 showman. Wink -

but hey, craiglist is local isn't it? so anyone buying it would be able to check if it has original iron, and actually listen to it, right?

My main gigging amp is a 76 Vibrosonic w/ 15" D-130F. I like it quite a bit. I figure it's about like a silverface 1x15" Showman in a combo sized package. I also have a '67 Dual Showman, and to me, anyway, the two sound quite a bit similiar.

The price for the one in the ad seems pretty good to me if it's nice.
