i allways thought, that the RI Reverb tanks run a 6v6 which can be replaced by a 6k6, but at the item description on a webstore where i planed to buy a tank it says that it runs a 6L6. is this possible?

To run a 6L6 in single-ended mode you need between about 2k5 to 5k load resistance.

Now, as it happens, if the RI SAR unit happens to have a reverb tranny wound for 5k reflected load, you might be okay just plugging it in (but it will drag the B+ voltage down a bit and it may not sound all that great, or you may like it somewhat). But I have a niggling feeling that the RT in the RI SAR might be more than 5k (make more like 6k6 or 7k5 or 8k), so your 6L6 will not really be ideal. The other possible problem is that the cathode resistor on the octal tube socket's cathode might only be a 1-2W 1000k resistor, and it might heat up a bit with a 6L6. So really the best thing is...

... that, you really should run a 6K6 in one of these. Now having said that, a 6V6 will do (and indeed they ship them with a 6V6) but it doesn't sound quite as nice as a 6K6 because a 6V6 tends to crash the pan a bit more (so will a Ruskie 6P6S). Besides a 6K6, a 6F6 is also ideal (if you can fit the bottle into the unit's cab).

thx for the quick answer. probably you got me a bit wrong due to my bad english. i dont plan to run a 6l6 in a Fender tank, i wanted to make sure that there are only RI with a 6v6 stock available and that the webstore got it wrong in the description. cause i dont want to buy a RI tank that cant run a 6k6.
