Sadly, we are drastically underfunded in our public schools. If any member could help out, I would appreciate it. Here is the generic email that comes out from the website:

Dear Friends:
I am reaching out to you to help me inspire my students to reach their highest potential. Adopt-A-Classroom (http://www.adoptaclassroom.org/) is a non-profit organization that offers an easy and accountable way for you to donate funds to my classroom and make a real difference for me and my students.
All donations are tax-deductible. 100% of the donation goes to my classroom. Adopt-A-Classroom takes $0 out for administration.
Here`s a description of my classroom and our specific needs:
School: Peoria Transition Center
Grade: 11th Grade
Subject: English literature
Number of students your donation will impact: 50

I teach a American Literature, American History, and German here at the PTC. We are an alternative school in the Peoria Unified School District. We take in students who have fallen behind from the various high schools in the district, or who are at risk of dropping out and help them to build a positive culture and renew their interest in school. The goal here is that they are able to transition themselves back into the traditional school of record. the main need is for my literature class, where we use notebooks and outside literature books on a regular basis. I currently fund pretty much everything myself, from readers notebooks and 3-ring binders to novels purchased at the local used bookstores. This is an incredible economic burden for me; however, I see it as a necessity to help the kids be successful and transition back into the traditional high schools. The demands for excellence here at the PTC are the same they would be at any of our schools. We just offer classes in an alternative environment that allows our students to develop the responsibility for their character.

I greatly appreciate your consideration in adopting my classroom. Please pass this email on to your employers and friends.
Thank you for your time.
