I'm thinking of swapping the tailpiece on my Ric 620 for the Accent vibrato unit but the price is putting me off. Cheapest cost over here in England is the equivalent of $235. Ouch, I could probably buy a useable guitar for that much.
I thought about the Bigsby B5 but it really is too cramped to fit one of those. So does anyone have experience of the Accent? Is it surfable?
Thanks

I've played a couple of Ricks with Accents. It looks pretty frail, but produces a nice, subtle vibrato. I looked into putting one on my 620, but discovered there were issues, such as an adaptor needed to use the Accent with the existing 620 tailpiece screw holes.
Lots of info availble on the RickResource Forum.

Thanks so much for reply.
I looked on the Ric forum and it seems that one has to drill a new hole for the strap button when swapping the 'R' tailpiece for the Accent. That doesn't bother me much but it doesn't seem like much bang for the buck. I can't help that, I'm a Yorkshireman

I have a few Ricks w/ accent. You won't be able to dive bomb, but it produces a very nice vibrato, easy to use and definitely not fragile. I'd put them on all my Ricks (well, except the acoustics) if I could.

I think Shamustwin has tipped me towards going for the Accent. I put up some redundant gear for sale on the UK equivalent of CL today to help pay for it and I already have $50 towards it!

Please note-I said LOOKED fragile. My friend Mark Neill plays the Hell out of the one one his 381, and tuning seems stable. I never had any problems with the ones I played. No dive bombs though.
There is a company that makes an adaptor so you don't have to re-drill. Look for them first before you drill.

Dang! I checked out the adaptor from my old pal from England, Phil Winfield, now purveyor of guitars to the stars and that brings the total cost of the conversion to 300 bucks.
Wifey says I'm nuts if I go ahead and I'm inclined to agree, but you guys are making me GAS for the trem on my beloved 620! I'll have to see if my unwanted gear sells, maybe I'll have to list it on ebay.
