looking for a nice reverb tank sound to record with( vst, vsti's etc)

The best I've found is Amplitube Fender's Fender outboard tank. You might be able to buy it ala cart now. I don't know, check the website.

The IK Amplitube is a very authentic sounding indeed.

Also check out these:
Genuine Soundware - Type4 (great sound and nice functions- it's got a 'kick the tank' button! and very useful hi/lo pass)
Overloud - SpringAge (very versatile also, realistic, with tube drive emulation)
Softube - Spring Reverb (lets you choose the no. of springs, sounds less like an outboard IMO, more like built-in verb)
