Tone Ring Size Question

Greetings from Oz, I have a nice closed back 1x15 that I am contemplating converting into a 1x12 tone ring cab. The speaker hole dia is about 14" and I'm wondering if the 12" speaker tone rings that are avaiable on ebay and the like would fit this hole. Does anyone have the dimensions of a 12" tone ring? I guess I'm particulaly interested in the outside diameter. Cheers. |

Philthy, I'd cut out (or find someone else to) a 'donut' that would reduce the hole diameter to what you need. Just make sure the donut is wide enough to allow you to screw it onto the existing baffle. Then screw the tone ring to the front of the donut which is now even with the back of the original baffle. Make sense? You have to make a new baffle in order for the Tone Ring to work. Larry Rodgers of Rodgers Amps make just the baffle, you just need to send him your original baffle specs. Call Larry he is a great guy. Luxe-Tone Amplifiers - The Sound of Yesterday...Today! |
