If the name sounds familiar, that's because Pat's younger bro' Matt is a Surf Guitar Meister known to many of you for his Wave Machine and exploits with The Reventlos, Surftones, and others too numerous to repeat. He sent this to me earlier this week.
Pat is semi-retiring from his "day job" at QSC Audio and plans to return to his roots building amps on a custom order basis. I've seen two original "Quilter" tube amps-Matt has one, Richard Blitz in San Diego the other. I also have a friend with an old solid-state "Quilter" head and matching 2 X 12 cab. All sound great!
Matt has been playing a solid state combo amp Pat made him for a while now, and it too sounds great.
Congratulations Pat, and best wishes for your new venture.

Pat also plays a mean lap steel!

I was impressed by the two little Quilter amps Karen used on stage at the convention. Pat was telling me about a newer 200 watt model with a single 8" speaker. I found out it's called a Micro-Slantmaster 200 but there's nothing on the internets that I can find out about it. Anybody know how to get a hold of Pat and find out more about these things?

Danny,
I talked to the Quilter Bros at the convention. They gave me a business card. Here is the info on the card:
Quilter Labs, LLC
Chris Parks = CEO
He said the microslant amp has 200 watts. Will be in production in a couple months, for $800. It's a solid state amp. He claims it sounds like a tube amp. Chris said Matt brings 1 to his wave machine show at Don's.

I heard that little 200 watt amp in action, it is the same size and shape as a Champ and could be heard over the Showman amps. I also played through one of those that Karen used, with 5 drummers and 5 guitarists at the Dickfest and again it keeps up with the giants and has a nice tone as well.

I played through the amp at Don's, and it sounded great. I may borrow one for our appearance at The Ocean Institute's "California Cruising" fundraiser in Dana Point on Sunday, August 28. Matt and Pat have both contributed a lot to our community, and I'd like to get the amps some exposure (plus, the do sound great!).

I'm hoping someone up here in the Bay Area has a prototype I can try.

I remember your positive impressions about a year ago. Hard for me to imagine a 200 watt amp the size of a Champ handling an 8 in. speaker. What a plus to have clean power like that in a small amp.

Howdy howdy. By way of introduction I am the chris mentioned above. You can feel free to call me or email me at chris@quilterlabs.com if you are local to Orange County you can drop by our office and I will be happy to let you take one for a test drive.
I don't want to be the token bad guy company guy jumping in on a board bragging on product so I will just say that Pat has truly created a 3rd generation amplifier that sounds incredible in a very light and incredibly loud package. Email me and I will be glad to tell you more. I just wanted to say thanks to the community for letting us come and join in the fun! What a great group of people, and wow it really blew me away to realize how incredibly talented you all are! Thanks for having us out for the fun.

Chris
Thanks for the response. I hope to get together next week. Sorry for the misinformation in my original email. The amp I played through at Don's sounded great.
I would HIGHLY recommend you get one to Danny to try. His input would be most valuable, and his opinion respected.
