Hey Freddie, thanks for these videos, especially since you weren't well.
You've gone beyond the call of duty and deserve a medal!
Everyone has been saying how amazing the Phantom Four were, i don't think the magic comes across in the videos but they are for sure great entertainers and look a lot of fun. I liked them.

Cheers Freddie.
What those videos only go part way to showing was just how ferocious that wind was

Thanks Freddie! Those are some of the nicest Phantom Four vids on uTube. Oh and the screaming girl at 2:23 of the Venlo tune fits frighteningly well

Hi Freddie, it's good to hear that you're out of hospital; hope your Frankenstein foot is okay and stays that way. And thank you for the videos, it's so great to relive again the experience of Livorno this year.
And for all the guys and gals that haven't been there: The videos of the Phantom Four can't convey the live experience of this band. It was utterly fantastatic. At times I forgot to breathe... Others told me they got goosebumps. And Alex from Los Twang! Marvels and Ralf from the Kilaueas bowed to the band like Wayne and Garth in front of Alice Cooper in Wayne's World. I don't know why it doesn't come across this way in the videos (on video the John Blair Band seems much more enthralling), but I guess it also had something to do with whole buildup of their set. The whole concert was as roller coaster ride that gripped you and never let you go. I never have experienced anything like this before.
As to djangodeadman: I enjoyed you set very much. The only irritating thing was that you seemed irritated by something. I already regret having bought just only one of your cds, should have bought them all...
The great disappointment were the Bambi Molesters. Their set was just the opposite of that of the Phantom Four. It lacked focus and direction, the brass and the singing was utterly superfluous; although I consider their first three albums among the best in surf music, since the remake of Dumb Loud Hollow Twang I have the feeling the band does not know in which direction to go; the title track of As The Dark Wave Swells promised them to be back in form, but the rest of the album with its cheesy string and brass arrangements (which worked well on a spaghetti western tune like the title track) left me completly disappointed; as did their Livorno live performance.
And watch out for the videos of the Space Rangers when Freddie posts them. After the Phantom Four and the John Blair band, they were the band I liked most this year in Livorno. To think they live 50 km from my birthplace and I have to go to Italy to see them for the first time...

Great videos! Really nice to see the Kilaueas again,
even if they were in the 'quasi-Kilaueas' lineup. I
must say it's funny to see Alex play bass and Tom play
guitar - Alex very much looks like a guitar player
playing bass, and Tom very much looks like a bass
player playing guitar! Just the way they hold their
instruments, and how they pick, etc. But hey, it
sounds great, so who cares about how it looks!
I tell you guys, this was bad ass fun...what intrigues me is: how does look a bass player should look like? Jaco Pastorius ? Well perhaps, but John Entwistle appeals a bit more to me...it was the first time in my life that I was allowed to crank an Ampeg stack, what the heck that was friggin loud...yeah! great fun playing at the Mercatino Americano, I am amazed hoe well we all did, Lorenzo and myseklf havin little time to lear the Kilaueas reopertoire, well I had a couple days of checking the material, but Lorenzo I think he listened to the stuff (24 tunes, much of it originals )one hour before....and he was like rocking the hell out of the drums...how did he do that? No idea whatsoever...what a guy...what a guy!
Hope someone captured Phatoms Getaway Car on video though, that was high octane kick ass power....geez!
Vibes
Alex

Just got home last night, I couldn't just go to Europe for the festival and not vacation some.
Freddie, glad the foot is better, my friend Martina and I were both concerned. I'm enjoying your videos so far, I shot some video but it's apparent I don't have the magic camera that Freddie has, my Canon S90 is great for low-light photos but too boomy on the bass for video.
Lorenzo, thanks for a great show, I hope to catch some of your stateside shows later this summer, your band was great.
I'll echo everyone else in that the Phantom 4 put on an unbelievable show. Tight and sounded perfect from the first note. Asked them about coming to the states, they'd like to but costs, etc. mean they probably cannot. Enjoyed the Bambi Molesters but it took a few songs to get the mix right, they seemed to be over too soon, but sure enough it was 2:00am, really only felt like midnight and how I wish they could have played for another hour or more. John Blair and the band were fantastic for as little rehearsal as I'm sure they got, I'll have to check out some of Los Twang Marvels just based on some of Alex's songs that they played.
I didn't catch all of the opening acts, had to do day trips around the area and didn't always get back early enough. I liked Dr. Legume and his brand of performance art, it'd really be something with an entire band playing to the videos. Bradipos IV were great as well.
Ciao,
Terry

Thanks for the kind words and apologies for looking irritated; I was having a tough time with the wind, my guitar and my fingers, none of which would quite do what I wanted them to, so it's very nioe to know that you enjoyed it.
I'll send you a Private Message about CDs.

So glad you're well. One more joke for old time's sake.
A doctor held a stethoscope up to a man's chest. The man asks, "Doc, how do I stand?
"The doctor says, "That's what puzzles me!"
