Permalink New Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet song!

New Topic

From Owen Gwilliam, Shadowy Webmaster on a Shadowy Internet:

The first new Shadowy Men song to be released since 1994 is now available. "Foreign/Aft" is available for immediate download at Mammoth Cave, and you can also pre-order the Bloodstains Across Ontario 7" single (only 300 copies, so get yours now!)

You can also hear the song on the site (it's up streaming). As Don Pyle described it, it's classic Shadowy Men for most of the song with a little bit of hardcore punk on the end with vocals by Reid Diamond.

Huh? So, my world is now complete.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up!

A good question would be if this is a new song or an old track that is being contributed.

It's an old unreleased track

Sounds similar to Algoma Reflection just slower and jazzier until the blast of hardcore at the end.

That makes me very sad. I know they have a member who is no longer with us. It would still be great to have some new material though. I love Atomic 7 but it does not fill the void. Phonocomb did but...well...dead member...

When I produced my tribute to Shadowy Men about 10 years ago, I got to know the members of the band a bit. Really nice guys, first of all. Very humble, too. They're definitely not the type to carry on after one of their bandmates (Reid Diamond) died.

Once while talking to Reid during SXSW (1998, think), he said that the individual band members were thinking that it was time to take a break and do other stuff musically. Brian wanted to do more rock&roll while Reid and Don wanted to continue in the direction of Sport Fishin' and then what ended up being Phonocomb.

Look for an obscure movie called Double Happiness. Shadowy Men composed the score. There's also a very rare soundtrack CD.

Hmmm...I read about that film. I will have to scour the internet for the soundtrack.

You should contact them and try to convince them to let you release a rarities CD of the unreleased KITH material and such..perhaps an official release of the two Albini demos that have been floating around for some time?

I talked to guitarist Brian Connelly over 10 years ago about possibly releasing a comp CD of all of their B-sides and comp tracks. He wasn't very enthused about it at the time. Maybe I should hit him up again.

I just heard from my friend Owen (Shadowy webmaster) regarding this new/old track. Turns out it's from the Double Happiness soundtrack, at least the first minute of the song is.

What two Albini demos?

Yes! Hit him up on that. I'd be first in line to buy.

The Albini demos are Autobahn and 16 Encores

Yes, the two Albini demos are 16 Encores and their cover of the Kraftwerk song Autobahn. Both can be downloaded from the Chunklet website.
