The Ventures...Have been listening to them all day. Smile Smile

Very noisy construction in the room next to my office. Argh!

THE KBK ... This is the last known signal. We offer Sanctuary.

Quite possibly the exact opposite of surf but I just found out that Ramesses has a new album out and I'm super pumped! I know some of y'all listen to doom, I found one of the new tracks on youtube that sounds pretty solid.

Couldn't get into them at all - those guys had a good thing going when all they had to do was follow Jus Oborn's orders.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

Personally I'm kind of bored with ewiz but I can totally understand not liking Ramesses.

I'm working on a surf write-up for another music forum I post at and I'm going through some old albums I haven't listened to in a while. I decided that I really don't listen to The Space Cossacks enough.

Agreed - everything after Dopethrone (and half of that album) is really not worthy of the hype and fanatical following they get.

The synth on Love Vigilantes by New Order is the sickest thing I've ever heard.

The Torquays, at this moment . . .

Last week, my brother came up and set me up with a Roku, so now I'm checking out a "Dick Dale" station I created on Pandora. So far it has surprised me with some nice selections--especially since it draws heavily from the "Lost Legends of Surf" comp series.

Also things like:
Friends of Dean Martinez
Joe Meek
De Fenders
Daikaju
and oh yeah, Dick Dale too!

So far, I'm liking it.

That Friends of Dean Martinez album Shadow of Your Smile was so great. I'm going to play that now.

The New Coffin Daggers! Monsters from the ID!The super new songs are tough as nails!

Reverb, It's A Way Of Life!

The Challengers - Scratch
Next up are The Cougars - Saturday Night at the Duck Pond & The Hearse by Astronauts...
Lovin' every minute of it!

I'm listening to the Hollies new 6-CD box set of the Graham Nash years, 1963-68. Wow! They knocked my socks off when I first heard "Look Through Any Window" and saw them (probably lip-synching) on Hullabaloo in 1965 or 66. I've been a fan ever since, and they were the first live band I saw in late '66. Listening to this great wealth of material, I'm struck by what a "tough", rockin' band they were in the early days. Lead guitarist Tony Hicks and bass guitarist Eric Haydock were far better than almost any British Invasion musicians playing at the time. And they were a very tight band. The vocals rivaled the Beatles and the Everly Brothers. I didn't realize that the proportion of originals to cover was so high on the first few albums. Clarke, Hicks and Nash were very good songwriters very early on. I'm stunned at how good so many of the early album (non-single) tracks are. At the end of Nash's stint they went more psychedelic, and after he left they went more "pop". If you're into the British invasion bands, this is well worth checking out.
