The Cars new cd, released May 10, "Move like this".
I give it an average rating. A few good tunes, but none that really bent my ear.

On sale at best bumhug this week for $10.

Pretended I was in Italy a few weeks from now on this mornings commute.

Voodoocourt - Nuclear Vacation: The Party's Over.

We stayed with Mark Kuhn from this band a few weeks ago in Asheville and he unloaded this CD on me. I just got around to listening to it and I am beyond amazed. These guys are amazing.

ArtS-Yeah me too, I'm a huge Cars fan, but this sounds more like an Ocasek solo record. Some of the ballads could really use Ben Orr's voice. So, overall, pretty uneventful and uninspired. It's always hard to recapture the magic...

The Madeira's playlist on youtube,
right now I'm on their cover of the Victor.
from the Bubble City Beach Riot with the Cocktail Preachers.

ever since i saw daikaiju in chapel hill i've been listening to them a lot. yesterday, both the self titled cd and phase 2, both several times. i like the both but am leaning more towards the self titled one.

I'm with you on that "leaning"... not by a lot, but enough to make a clear choice for me personally.

Had this on the headphones going to sleep last night. Getting another spin in the ear-buds now. Really solid record, IMO.

If you're curious... I recommend streaming the live recording at the top of this article. It's not all from this record, but some is.

Really!? Interesting. I think Phase 2 is just out of this world
good. Its been in my CD rotation in my car since I
bought it last summer. I think it comes much closer to
capturing their explosion show than the first one did.

it's just a slight lean. :o) and funny, it sounds way better in my shop than in my car.......must be too much competition with the road noise. :o)

The SG 101 2008 and 2009 Compilations on 4 CD's. Set
on "Shuffle". Just heard "All the Pretty Horses" by
The Dead Ranch Hands. I love the hell out of that
song!! I think it was in a 1999 surf movie called "The
Seedling" which was about the new generation of
longboarders. It opened the "Mexico" segment.

Yeah, that was the Friends of Dean Martinez version. My take is based on that version. Thanks!

All day today! I wished I'd seen them when they played in SF a couple years back. I wasn't really familiar with them at the time...

The Deadbeats

Green onions by Booker T & the MGs

This song belongs is several threads. How many other songs does it sound like? What about the solos? An example of surf vocals? It's fun. Are there ANY surf cliches left out?

That's some long board he's using in the second clip. I am not playing guitar in either of these clips.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.
