Brian,
Seems the "NEW" thread indicator is on the fritz. I'm seeing it stick around on the category when all of the threads within have been viewed. I'm seeing it on Music General Disc., Gear, and Shallow End at the moment...
Anyone else notice the NEW flag sticking around when all content has been viewed?
edit: Seems to be for other categories too - Surf Musician and Show Announcements too. I suspect it was at a specific moment in time when the indicator stopped working and whatever each user saw as new to them is prolly stuck.

Yeah, I see that. I made a change last night to fix a related bug and looks like I introduced another. Just hit the "mark all forums read" button and those "New" indicators will go away.

Cool. I've just done that now at the total forum level (at the bottom of this page - just above the visitors stats: http://surfguitar101.com/forums/).
All "NEW" flags are gone now. Will let you know if it keeps actin' up going forward.
(Thanks for the speedy response too!)

I think I see the problem. A fix should be coming later tonight. Damn these day jobs.

Hey Brian - seems a new buggy behavior about the "New" buttons has started... when you visit a forum with multiple New posts, if you go back to the Forum Index before reading them (read one, some or none), it appears to be treating all "new" posts as now having been read in the category you were just viewing.
Something else get tweaked in the code recently that may have inadvertently caused this?

No it isn't new. It's just a very hard to reproduce bug that I hope to squash soon.

Ah. Ok. Guess I wasn't noticing 'cause I'm usually actually viewing all new posts/topics in a category before going into another category.
Thanks for confirming it's on your radar!

It's been there since day 1 but I think some other bugs were obscuring it. Now that those are gone it seems very repeatable. I should be able to get to it soon. It's been annoying the heck out of me for a while.

Tested it in a few categories with multiple "New" markers...
Read none, go out, come back... still all there as new.
Read one, go out, come back... others still new.
Read a few, go out, come back... remaining still new.
So far, so good. I think you got it!

<--- my guess of your state reading this, Brian
<--- me, wondering if this "latest" anomaly is a new critter
In the last few days I've noticed my own posts show up as "New" to me as a viewer. I don't think they used to. Kinda confusing... I wouldn't think my own post should appear to "new" to me.
Recent Change?

That's actually how the old forums worked.
While fixing another issue, I put the old behavior back to see what I (and others) thought. I'll probably take it back out.
