Yes there are.

But I'll sticky this one so it becomes the authoritative version.

The easiest way to post a photo is to get the URL to the photo, then click the little picture icon above the box where you type your post. A pop-up will prompt you for that URL. Just paste in the URL. You can use the green check mark to preview.

Another quick way to get that pop-up that prompts your for the photo URL is to type control-p. This works in most browsers.

So, a workflow might look like this:

1. In your browser, navigate to your photo.
2. Select and copy (using control-c) the URL to your photo
3. Go back to SG101.
4. In the posting box, type control-p to bring up the photo prompt.
5. Paste in your photo URL with control-v
6. Hit ok.
7. Use the green check mark to preview your post.
8. Submit your post and profit.

What may be tripping you up is knowing what URL you should use. You want the "raw" URL to the photo. Some of the photo sites helpfully try to include BBCode or HTML markup. You just want the link to the photo, which is usually something like this:

http://example.com/some/crazy/path/my_photo.jpg

If you see any <img> or [img] crap, that isn't what you want.

Please note that SG101 ditched the old formatting (BBCode) and went with a newer, easier to use (IMHO) markup called Markdown. To get detailed help on the new markup, click the little question mark help icon next to the "Submit Reply" button to get a cheat sheet.

Photobucket users: use the "direct link" here on SG101. E.g. Copy the direct link with control-c, come back here, type control-p, then control-v to paste in the direct link.

For Flickr:

Log into your account and find a photo you want to share.

Above the photo you'll see a pull-down menu next to the Facebook and Twitter icons that has the tool-tip "More ways to share". Click on that.

Select "Grab the HTML/BBCode".

Pick the size you want and make sure the HTML radio button is mashed down.

Now unfortunately, Flickr includes some junk you don't want in the copy/paste box. This is because, as per the Flickr rules, if you share the photo on another site, you are really only "allowed" to share a link to the page on Flickr. This is the primary reason I don't recommend Flickr to host photos you want to share on forums. But anyway, if you really want to do this, you can find the bit you need to fish out of the text box. Here is an example:

You want to copy out the URL that ends in .jpg, i.e. this part:

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/62/164365583_9423d16a72.jpg

I suspect that may be too difficult for non-techie folks, so again, for that reason don't use Flickr if you want to embed images in forum posts. You can post a link to your album or photo though.

Flickr also uses Javascript bullsh*t so you can't right click and grab the URL. You'll have to disable Javascript in your browser to get the URL. So again, I don't recommend using Flickr to embed photos in forum posts. It's great for posting links to galleries and slideshows though.
