I've been eyeballing those Hiwatt mini-theremins. Anyone ever used one?
They seem to run for about $125 to $150... am I smarter just biting the bullet and saving up for a real deal at $375?
Any opinions would be greatly appreicated.

I carry them in my store. They're kind of hard to play but the built in echo is a cool effect to have for a theramin. I used one on Formosa Rectangle if you want to hear one... http://www.waveinvasion.com/sounds/Wave_Invasion-Formosa_Rectangle.mp3 —There is Surf east of Sepulveda. |

Thanks Fripp!! I downloaded the demo off of musician's friend as well, and it seems like there are a lot of oddball tones to be had. Anyone else? ~B~ |

I have one. It's not as musical as a "real" theremin - ie, don't expect to be able to harmonize with "Good Vibrations" or anything. It's definitely more of a noisemaker in the latter-day MOAM sense, which in itself isn't a bad thing. — |

Phil Tiki from the Cocktail Preachers uses (or used) one, playing with his foot while playing the bass. I agree with Butch, it's cool but don't expect too much. Ran — |

I got a kit from...http://www.theremaniacs.com/...about five years ago. Around $70, I think. Still works just fine. — |
