One month ago I went to my local music store to buy some strings, picks and so and so... and I came across this new Höfner Galaxie. I gave it a try and I found that it had the most comfortable neck I had ever played. That neck fitted my hand at the first riff, which is something that I had never felt, even with 1st range guitars. I played it for 15 minutes and I realized that I had to buy this axe. So here it is.
It is a low budget guitar so do not expect the ultimate guitar, but what I can assure is that this Höfner can give much more playability and quality than other stellar and wellknown brands around for the same or even less money. It has a great old school look, and the most important, it surfs great!!!

Cost?
I paid 270 euros for the guitar + setup (no case, no gigbag).

What a Beaut! I love the triple stripe binding on the neck!
I've played a few of the new Galaxie basses 'round here, which feel a bit cheap, but sound pretty darned good. I'd be tempted to convince the local Hofner guy to get one of these boogers in his shop.

Very nice! Congrats. How does it stay in tune?
Better than I expected for such a cheap guitar. At rehealsals when we play songs that need tremolo I check the tuning every 5 or 6 songs because the g string tends to go a little sharp (nothing serious), but so far I have not had any weird tuning or trem issue with it. It has a roller bridge and I think that a better bone or graphite nut (it has a plastic nut) would improve tuning stability. If I do not use the tremolo it stays in tune for hours.
And thanks everybody for your compliments...

What a great-looking guitar! It resembles an old Kawai or Teisco, which always managed to look space-age cool regardless of price. Are those pickups single coils?

No single coils. They are minihumbuckers with staple magnets. They sound quite warm.

Nice looking guitar. Love the color and the binding.
Those fret wires look hugh though.
Are the strings set pretty high?

The frets are wide jumbo, and the fretboard is quite flat, but the strings are not set really high (medium action IMO), but that is only my point of view because I am used to playing with medium-high action. I prefer it to medium or low in my guitars.
This guitar was a great surprise for me because I have always hated flat fretboards with wide frets 'a la Gibson'. Actually I cannot play Gibsons because I feel their necks and fretboards really artificial in my left hand. But this guitar with wide frets and flat fretboard fitted my hand at the first second.
