Now, back on topic.
My main set up is my Reverend Slingshot through either a Carvin X-60 1 X 12 combo with 12" EVM or a 2 X 10 Mesa Blue Angel combo. I use my RI Fender Reverb with the Carvin. The Mesa's onboard Reverb is excellent. For larger or outdoor venues, I move up to a MusicMan Sixty-five, 212 combo, Showman Head with 115 Tone Ring Cab, or MusicMan One-thirty HD head thru the Tone ring cab-all with the RI Reverb Unit.

Ron plays beautiful steel guitar on the New World Relampagos CD. If you don't have that already, order it NOW. Ivan on guitar, Dusty Watson on drums and Sam Bolle on bass with the original Relampagos organ player. One of my favorites. |

at the moment, quite non-trad... but im in the process of upgrading! atm i use a MIJ jag (seafoam green - that just nails the surfsound right there before its plugged in haha) with Digitech delay - set at super short to get the echo, and a Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremelo pedal (and a Boss BD2 for a little dirt) into a 90's Fender Princeton Chorus - solid state, but i got it for free so meh, with the reverb at 10. its not the greatest but it gets the job done for now. hopefully upgrading to a verb unit and prolly a 59' bassman RI does anyone have any experience with the reissue bassmans?? ive played a couple and they seem to go alright. — |

I have a Ibanez Talman (Great guitar BTW) plugged in to some effects plugged into a Traynor Custom Valve 20. It's a beastin' setup for all kinds of styles. And the trynor has an Accutronics reverb World's Top Rocket Surgeon |

For a period of time I was using a '67 Ampeg Gemini with a 15" Jensen with my Jaguar. Those are really great, underrated amps. Big, clean sound - slightly warmer than a Fender - and outstanding onboard reverb. And the vintage models are still relatively affordable. However, the weight is what made me retire it to the basement for good. My "closet" surf recording rig until recently was my '61 Fender reverb through a Champ 600 driving a closed-back cabinet with a 1x12 alnico Weber. Big surf sound in a small space. —-Nick |

My amp of choice is a tube epiphone so-cal head and cab. Great vintage sound and alot less then the high end fenders |

My first post has to be in this thread, simply because I'm a Man or Astro-Man? fan. I have things that I can afford, and can actually carry! My main guitar is a Guyatone LG-127t, which is a copy of a Mosrite and similar to a Hi Flier, but without the german carve. The neck is nice and fast, the tremolo nice and tight and the pickups are thick and meaty. I've only recently upgraded to a Delta Blues 15", but prior to that have been using a pair of Ephiphone Valve jr's with the reverb supplied by a Line 6 M13. Nice tone, but not very loud. I do have a Japanese Mosrite of California as well, but it's only a new addition and I haven't been able to play it much. though the neck is super fast and the pickups are very bright compared to the Guyatone.

Hmm...my rig is way off the map. Godin SD - HSS p/u config, no splitter. I'll either install a coil tap or switch to a p90 at the bridge. strat style Tremolo bridge. Squier tele, with a mini-bucker at the neck. ZT Club amp Dano Cool Cat TOD, v1 a tele with Bigsby would be great, and there's a Yamaha EGV for sale in my area, but for now, the gear I've got will have to do. |

Merlin, I have considered adding a stetsbar trem to one of my teles...they're not cheap but there's not much modification that has to be done to the guitar. My three guitars I use for surf/instro are a daphne blue Squier Bullet (the cheapest Squier you can buy), an Ibanez Artcore AF75TDG hollowbody, and, as the nickname implies, an Ibanez Jet King. The Jet King's tone is more like a Gibson---say an SG--- but I find it to be perfect for "spy" music such as Langhorns. Plus, it looks really cool. I do have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp with an ok onboard reverb, but here lately I've been practicing through an Orange Crush 35w solid state amp. The amp has 4 different reverb effects settings and you can get some way silly sounds out of it. I use a Boss Tremelo pedal, a Line 6 delay, and a DOD compressor. This set-up should be enough to make most purists reach for their pepper spray, if not holy water. I do have to say I'm hoping to trade one of my teles for a strat next week...and I do have a line on a 63 twin reissue that I'm trying to snag. Still, I like to use non-conventional equipment to try to achieve a sound that I like. |

From what I've read on it, I didn't think you had to shim it with the Stetsbar, though I know you might have to with a Bigsby-style trem. Maybe check with the tech at your local shop to make sure? By the way, someone needs to fill me in on how to do the quote thingy. |

I've decided to step up my game, and found this amazing guitar. It has so much resonance I don't need to use any reverb at all. It even has a built-in 50-watt amp with a 15-inch JBL speaker. Needs a little work to convert it from a bass to a guitar, but I can't wait to play it at the Instro Summit!
