Hey everyone,
i recently put an ad up of my epiphone 4x12 cabinet(i use with my 50w epiphone socal tube head) on craigslist. A guy messages me asking if i'd like to trade the cab for a Crate v50 1x12 combo amp. Has anyone had any experience or heard about the crate v50? Is it a dependable, good-sounding amp?

I have heard nothing but good things about this line of amps.

You could do worse. Decent rig imo.
That would be a much more useable rigs for the small-medium venues we play.

i have a crate vintage club 50 2x12 from the mid 90s that i love. it's been in the shop a few times, but other than that, it's been solid.
they don't have the most powerful internal reverb, but it still sounds nice and has good cleans.
there were other crate amps with similar names that came out later that don't seem to be looked on nearly as favorably.
the first tech who ever looked at my crate told me the circuit was pretty close to an ac30.
the 2x12 version can get pretty loud, too.
it's going to be on its third input jack soon, and i've played it in most of the bands i've been in over the years.

I have a Crate VC50, cut down to head and closed back 2x12 cab. I love it, but yes, it just got out of the shop. For surf it's good, not great. The reverb is a little weak, perhaps a better pan would help.
