I used the iPad version and Amplitube 3. A lot of the sound quality depends on the type of sound system you run it into. I was using an iRig for testing. I tried it with powered studio reference monitors, some JBL's, a Traynor guitar amp and a PA system. Sound is different through each one. For headphones, I used an ATH50, AGK271 and AKG702. Each one of those is different as well, with the ATH50's having the most bottom end (bassy). My personal take on it is, if you own the real equipment, and A/B the software and real Fender amps, it's no contest. It would be like comparing a reverb pedal and a Fender Reverb Tank. Having said that, what you do get in Amplitube can be quite usable on its own and certainly more affordable than having that many amps, cabs and effects in a room. I've also used the computer version and it works/sounds the same but has the MIDI implementation so you can control a lot of it with a MIDI foot controller. I did find the MIDI is a little buggy and causes the program to crash at times though. Mel —Mel |

Have you reported that midi problem to our Customer Support? http://www.ikmultimedia.com/Support.php Our iPad version has been downloaded 1 million times now and is very popular! I'm sorry you didn't like it. |

No I haven't reported it to customer support. It took me long enough to realize on the computer version the MIDI CC implementation itself is flawed for my purposes. In order to use CC switching, it requires "alternate" CC's (0 followed by 127 for example) and my MIDI foot controllers can't generate two values from a single stomp. That excluded MIDI control portion from my controllers. The Ipad version doesn't support any MIDI controllers and that makes it even less appealing to me. I don't dispute the fact that software like Amplitube, TH2, Guitar Rig, etc, are all very popular/affordable, although I am unclear about any relationship between downloads and sales. Never the less, as I stated all of them have very usable sound in their own right. However if you compare them to the originals, they are simulations/emulators and therefore need to be appreciated as such. Mel —Mel |
