Everybody knows what I think already. I find it appalling.

about as ridiculous as modelling a beach after a guitar, with a volume knob shaped icecream-stand.

plus it's got beefbuckers or whatever those pickups are called.

Puke

no offense to annyone who likes this.

You all may be missing the point: it is, of course, useless for playing surf music. Therefore it is not a surf guitar. However, as folk art, it has merit. Not my cup of tea, by any means, but well executed nonetheless.

I saw those photos on there the other day - The guy that did that guitar has made some pretty cool other "surf" inspired guitars. He built one like the Fender Custom shop surf board inspired Strat/Jaguar. and, he did a cool looking strat that was hawaiian shirt inspired. This one wasn't my favorite.

Chris

EDIT: here's his surf board inspired guitar -

There are some things you can't un-see. Those photos are two examples.

...sometimes people confuse the word "beach" with the word "surf"...two different things completely, in my book...sort of like "the Beach Boys" and, welll..."the real Surf Music"...

all that carved sand was pretty interesting, i wonder if the artist has OCD?

I knew this would get some good responses, Puke
I thought it was interesting, especailly the sand castle knobs,
but if I saw one of you guys using one,
I would laugh my ass off. LMAO

More of a wall hanger than a player in my book.

As for the surf baord guitar, with the stringers thru it,
now that Is nice IMO. Thumbs Up

Those pickups, my good partners in surf crime, are called "barfbuckers". Please correct me if I am wrong.......ed

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

A second look reveals that the beach guitar is pretty tacky. And perhaps painful to play. What is he going for here, I wonder? Glancing at his surfboard creation, it seems like maybe surf guitars in the "surf music" sense of the term. But without a vibrato tailpiece? Obviously the guy has some talent, though.

But do they come in Antigua?

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

It's interesting that people who REALLY play guitar are generally speaking not too intersested nor distracted by what a guitar looks like beyond basic shape, color and playability. All this over-the-top guitar hotrodding has nothing to do with the guitar's tone, playability nor its capacity to make music. It's just a testimony to the fact that those who can, play and those who cannot, well, they build sandcastles, surfboards, sharks, etc.

I'm more interested in mods that refine my ability as a guitarist, not ones distract me from it.

I think it is art and frikin cool art at that!!!!

Thanks for the post!!!

Hmm, indeed. That is the question.
