Thanks, Mom! Time for a bump... I just listened through all the CDBaby preview samples for the new album and was struck by how surprisingly good they sounded for being just preview samples. Click the "preview all songs" play button at the end of the tracklist, sit back, and you'll see (hear) what I mean. |

Sounds like he liked the songwriting, guitars and the whole concept, but I wonder what he thought of the drum sound - lol! — Sean Surf CD's / Vinyl / Fanzines / DVD's |

This CD was recently featured on Spanish National Radio - you can hear the show (and even download it), here: http://www.rtve.es/mediateca/audios/20101102/the-surfites-compania-sotano/918992.shtml —Sean Surf CD's / Vinyl / Fanzines / DVD's |

In my experience, if he ranks on your drum sound, you are doing it right! —http://www.satanspilgrims.com |

Yeah, he seems totally obsessed with the drums, haha. "...but the drums sound is really awful, dropping most tracks by one or two stars, depending on just how annoying the sound is in context." "The drums charge with a trashy sounding, romping beat." "...would be five stars except for the abominable drums sound." "Again, awful drums sound holds this back." "Cruddy drum sound mars the overall effect." "The drums are crude..." "...it allows the lo-fi drums to be heard and mess up the impression..." "Only the trashy drums sound holds it back." "The drums make this seem too trashy." We are very pleased with how the drums turned out for this release, especially considering how dull and bland recorded drums often sound these days. — |

I just got my copy of the new Surfites last week. Amazing. It has been on heavy rotation at home, in the car and at work. I will be featuring the CD prominently on the Chickenshack for the foreseeable future. This is ,by far, my favorite of all of your releases. Well done! Can I be in your band? —The Exotics 1994-Current |

I look forward to hearing some "trashy" drums when I get a turntable this x-mas! (Haven't had one since 1992...) — |

You aren't mistaken. The drum sound on the new album does indeed have a bit more bite than the previous ones.
Wow, thanks! Sure you can be in the band!

Hey Klas, How did you record the drums for the latest CD? Rev —Canadian Surf |

The drums were basically recorded in the same way as the earlier CDs using just two mics; one overhead and one fairly close to the snare. The big difference for the new album is the post-production where we ran the recorded drums through different low-cut filters and an "echo chamber" (my bathroom). — |

Just revisiting this album today and compelled to bump the topic. Original concept or not, wildly innovative songs or not, this album makes my foot tap and brings a grin to my face. I really enjoy the 'personas' of each 'band' and happen to dig all four. The tone & sonic qualities for each are pretty good stuff too - new but fitting to the era & vibe being celebrated all the same. Anyhow, glad I revisited it; may this bump influence you to do the same, or check it out for the first time if you haven't before. — Fady El Mirage @ ReverbNation |

You had me really excited that there was a new release. Dang. The 3 Surfites full lengths are really great releases. They really nailed the songwriting and sounds on those. I will have to listen to them again (it has been a while). Hopefully there will be some more material in the future. Rev —Canadian Surf |
