I'm selling this to finance another purchase. I've had it for over five years and in that time, I haven't played bass in any band. It was very lightly played when I got it and remains so. It's an '89 and one of only a few I've seen in this finish. Asking $1200.
Update with pics and some more details. The bass is near mint. The only thing I saw during the photo session that I'd never noticed before was some very light and hard to notice flaking by the neck pocket. We really couldn't capture it in the photos. The strings are DR's and it is well set up. Everything is stock. When I played bass I had an AV Precision which I sold, and when I went out on the hunt for another one this caught my eye from somebody on the Fender Forum. I bought it and have enjoyed it, but it's hardly left my house and I've not played bass in a band since before I bought it. It sounds fantastic and out of all the Precision basses I've owned (the number would surprise anyone), this one has been my favorite. But since I need money for something else right now and there are other Precision basses out there (albeit not in this color) I'm putting it on the block.

Thanks Jeff. Jack, I've never seen another '62 in OT. I think this color was done (on basses, at least) in '89 only. I have seen two Jazzes and more recently a '57 AV Precision in this color.

Got a special gift from UPS today.
Wow!!
I am blown away, and kinda speechless.
Thanks to everyone who was involved in this scheme to get this for me.
now there is no excuse to not start practicing and get in a surf band.
I've always been kinda reluctant with my Kramer P bass,
nice, but just NOT a Fender.
I will definitely give this beauty a great home.
thanks again to everybody involved.
I am so grateful to all of you for your generosity, and kind thoughts.

Congratulations, Jeff! You definitely deserve it, for everything you've done for all of us and for surf music in general! I look forward to seeing you put it to good use!
(BTW, it should be made known that this was Brian's idea and that he organized everything, too. He's a truly good man.)

Ivan,
Thanks man, appreciate the kind words.
I figured it was Brian's Idea, but wasn't 100% sure.
thanks to all.
and Thank you very much for everything you do for SG101 Brian.
here's a pic of me with my Bass,
until I can upload the real one of me.

YES YES YES!!!
I'm so glad you got this finally! It was quite a roller coaster for a while. It was stuck in Florida and Richard and I didn't know what was going on.
Jeff, for all you have done for us surf fans and musicians, and all the unforgettable surf music memories you have provided for me, and your friendship, I salute you! I am so happy I was able to rally together a band of your friends to get that gift for you. You deserve it and so much more! You rock!
I had no idea when I started that crummy Yahoo group and then later it morphed into this site that I would actually go to California to meet all these great people and bands, not once but many times! If this site is the bulletin board for surf music then Jeff is the heart and soul of the scene.
Thanks to everyone who helped in my scheme! I would post names but I don't want to embarrass anyone. And please don't feel bad if you didn't get to help out. I basically just started asking small groups of people on Facebook until I got to the asking price. I chose Facebook because I knew Jeff wasn't on it. I didn't want to ask here and give up the surprise.
I hope you enjoy it Jeff and I hope it reminds you of how much we all love ya, big guy!
