first time poster long time lurker. i would like to start by thanking those who make this forum possible.
after not gigging for about five years i have just joined a rockabilly band that will play a bit of surf instrumentals as well. my current amp is a super champ so im looking at getting something a bit bigger. a combo that has a unit style reverb with tone, dwell, and mix knobs., built in that also has tube tremolo/vibrato. im looking for something with a 1x15 or 2x10
i have looked at the allen old flame and sent the a message asking if it's possible to have tremolo built into it also. and im awaiting a reply. i would like to go with a new hand wired boutique made fender style amp instead of vintage.
i had hell keeping my last gigging amp up and going (original 65 super reverb.) so if you could recommend a amp with all these features built in or someone who could build it i would appreciate it. kinda my dream amp i don't have alot of technical knowledge so i don't know if this is even possible. thanks to all.

The Vibro Kings are very heavy (had one - over 70 pounds). The reverb is very nice, but not quite the same as a standalone unit. It's a good tone with sparkle, but not exactly classic surf. It would probably work well for rockabilly. Transport and the stairs were the main reasons I sold it.
David Allen is a really good guy. His amps are first rate. You might want to check out the Encore, which is his take on the Vibrolux Reverb. It has two-knob reverb plus tube tremolo, among other features.

yeah the place im practicing is a basement so i don't think i want to be lugging that vibro king up and down stairs every week. i have been looking at the 63 vibroverb RI. if i could get one from $700-$900 i would but man those things are going all over the place on ebay and the used market. sometime up to $1300. i think i may wait on one of those and go with a unit later if i need to. 74LB's is alot to haul around

I had a Vibro King and sold it. Good amp but over-powered for my needs.
Great for Blues
Would work for Rock-A-Billy
Not so much for Surf imho

I have an Allen Encore head. As described, two knob reverb is stock, as is a really sweet bias vary tremelo, so much warmer than the opto type you find in BF/SF Fenders. I have heard of David Allen adding a third reverb control to these. (He's a good guy, very helpful and friendly BTW.) Certainly he does transformer upgrades ... many Encore owners have the larger Old Flame 40 watt OT installed for more headroom, somewhat stiffer feel. These Encores are great amps. Vibrolux Reverb like tonally, but with even better reverb, definitely better tremolo. I run mine with a 2x12 and 1x15 cab together.
