It's time to bring this thread back! I have a new picture. I joke with DanO about this because we drank all the 50s in the bar night 1 of the Surf Battle.

Well, since Danny mentioned "Winter Beers", I thought I'd give a plug for anyone in the SF area... Eldo's, where Lava Rodd works, just this week unveiled their "Sunset Solstice" holiday special beer. It's a dark Belgian that I would put in the realm of Chimay Blue, yet muuuuch smoother.
Toss in the fact that it's 7.3% ABV and it makes for a really fun night.

I gave in to the temptation of new beer on Wednesday night despite the fact I had to work in the morning... and this is the most interesting "post-drinking" feeling - I wouldn't say I was ever blatantly drunk - I felt sober the whole night. However, I woke up the next morning, and it took a solid hour to put together exactly what I did once I got home.

Either way, if you're in the SF Area, this beer will be around for a few more weeks at least, and it is terriffic. Enjoy one or two, and you'll be having happy holidays.

I picked up the mixed case of Samuel Adams , with a few differet winter/Holidays Brews, and some Dark Stouts and Porters mmmmm
Looking fwd to breaking those out tonight/tomorrow, whose coming over to help drink?

Tiki,
If it didn't involve a whole day of driving, you know I'd be there. Raise a Sam Adams Black Lager for me!

I'll be up in SF drinking Samuel Jackson beer - "mmm mmm that's good muthafucka!"

Will do Bill,
and the Sam Jackson thing was funny, kinda reminds me of the CHUM song "Raptor". "That Raptor is one bad mother*, Im just talkin'
bout the Raptor". Classic Very Happy

Let the drinking begin. Cheers

This isn't in the internet video forum since there's singing and it's about the topic of this thread:

Ah........I needed that. I was just sitting here thinking about all the amp work and everything else that needed my attention downstairs in the "boatwerx" but that PBR posting of Deke and the gang just drove me to the fridge to uncap a Sweetwater IPA and dig the vid. So fellow Southern Surf dudes, I just shot another evening to heck and didn't get your projects finished. But I saw a great video clip and enjoyed a tall glass of my favorite beverage. I never could break Rip and Spanky of the PBR habit but I have seen Sticks hiding a keg of Sam Adams in the downstairs Keg-i-rator. So with a new year on it's way tomorrow, Hoist one to one and all. Best Reverbs, eddie k

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

Had a few Newcastles last night at the Bomboras show, after we had the killer tropical driks at the tiki ti. as most bars where bands play can't make complex tropical drinks to save their life.
Its not the same but they( the Beers) kept the buzz going ok thru the Garage bands we didn't want to really see.
and made them more tollerable Wink

Sadly, I got my drinking yen out of the way early -- friday the 29th to be precise.

In addition to going through five cases of Pabst, we drained 30 miller lites playing beer pong, and even managed to polish off a case of Schlitz. Hell, I don't even like the stuff all that much, but it was the first time I'd ever seen it for sale in SF.

Of course the three screwdrivers (heavy emphasis on the SCREW) before the party are what had me feeling the pain later that night.... and again in the morning.... and a few times the following afternoon.

My new year's resolution: to drink more!

Ugggh, I thought when I left Philly, I left Schlitz behind forever.

You can take the boy outta Philly, but you can't take the Schlitz outta the boy. Cheers

Hey Bill, I'm willing to bet that Schlitz came from the same barrel that your beloved PBR comes from. Blatz, Old Style, PBR and Schlitz(as much as it pains me to say) all appear to have the same address on the bottom of their cans. Good Lord Hamm's isn't even brewed in Minnesota anymore! I have little to get up for anymore.

Man, I could go for a PBR or three right about now. Work was rough.

I know it's not even noon yet, but this is my nighttime.

Bill,
Yeah, I believe that Pabst Brewing owns all those companies these days. So long as I can still get my beloved PBR, I'm in good shape. Don't care what has or hasn't been brewed in those vats before or after.

Here's a great vid of what looks like a Pale Ale in whats called the High Kreusen stage of primary fermentation. (What you are seeing is the yeast frantically doing thier thing, that is converting sugar into alcohol and co2) All to the lovely sounds of 80's Hair Metal band 'Europe'.

So it's been a little while, and we haven't talked about beer.

So I figure I'll bump the topic a bit, and say that I love Pabst Blue Ribbon. Much to my surprise, we can now get PBR Light here in the Bay Area too, for those of us who don't drink real beer (sadly, LavaRodd is in that category at the moment). It's been a lovely surprise.

I was saddened that a week after the Super Bowl, our local grocer was out of the 12-packs of PBR, since they were on sale at a paltry $2.50 per pack. I had to settle on a six-pack of bottles at $4 instead.

Just last night, I had the wonderful opportunity to have both a big bottle of Chimay Blue, as well as a few glasses of Hooegarden. You Belgian folks know a thing or two about making a tasty brew.

So long story short, I like beer. Discuss....

Hells yeah trappist ale rules!
If you havent yet try the Chimay Triple (white cap) its awesome smooth, and balanced at a whopping 8%.
Westmalle is my fave abby ale.
