Thanks much. You know, yesterday I listened to DAIKAIJU. Just amazing. I want to write that... not that I could ever play that. But I start out trying to write something similar, a real surf tune, and seem to always end up with something much softer and simple. Not that that's bad necessarily, I understand. topsail, I started using two mics to record my '71 BandMaster amp with Gomez g-spring reverb. An Audix i5 dynamic up close at the speaker, and an Audio Techniques 4040 condenser about 6 feet away. That gives many different capabilities...like setting the i5 track full left, the 4040 full right, then putting the 4040 track .20 behind the i5. Makes for a nice echo effect. Other than that, the i5 for bass and snare. 4040s overhead on drums and an i6 kick drum mic. All into Cubase and Wavelab to master.
