I use .011-.052's on just about everything. The exception being humbuckers....
I favor them most on a Dyna loaded Gretsch and a SSL-1 Duncan loaded Strat next.
I have never been able to play a .009 or Slinky type string, I way overbend wih them for some reason.
The only roundwound that I have played and actually liked was a set of .010 Snarling Dog's. I played them on a Gretsch 3140 with Dyna's and was very impressed. I'm told they are very reasonably priced too.

I know the majority of you guys aren't going to dig these, but I just threw a set on my Jazzmaster and I think they're the bee's knees.
They're basically DR's Tite Fits, but with a UV coating that glows under blacklight, right in time for all our October gigs.

That's actually pretty cool, I might try a set.

Yeah, baby -- surf green strings! Who's not gonna dig that?
As long as I'm posting here anyway... Thomastik Jazz Swing .011 - .047 flats on everything but the baritone. However, I've finally broken down and bought a Jag, which came with round wound .010s of some type that I really dislike. A pack of Fender stainless flat .012 - .052 is already waiting in the wings.

I use 11-52 definitely. I like them smaller on the the top strings so I can shred and the heavy for the low strings so I can pick super fast. I have experimented with quite a few different set ups and I must say that this has been the best for me.

As of right now, I'm using 11-50 on my dano hornet and 12-54 on my jaguar which are my main axes. I use GHS nickel rockers on both guitars and specially ordered an unwound .020 third for the 12s on the jag.

I use 9 to 42 on all my guitars - bite me!
I have tried to go heavier but I just cannot do it, I always end up reverting to light strings.

Put me down in the 12-54 group for my Strats and Gretsch 6120... I use 11-49 on my Tele, but that isn't the guitar I used for surf stuff... The cool thing about 12s is they will stay in tune all night long in addition to having a much fatter sound...

I recently restrung my Jazzmaster with DR Tite Fits, I loved the tone of the Pure Blues, but I had recently begun to think that they might be a little dark.
So far I'm digging the brightness of the new strings, although I haven't played it through my gigging rig yet, so I can't be 100% sure these are better in a live situation unplugged though they sound awesome.
Just thought I'd share my thoughts on nickel plated steel.

For surf, flat .011s with a wound 3rd.
DRs, often. Also sound fine for lounge.

I've used 9's on everything electric for years and, after reading many posts here, I tried a set of 10's for last night's gig and today my fingertips are sore. They do sound alot better though!

For years I used 9's, but a few years back I went to 10's and then to 11's, which I now have on all my guitars, whether I'm using them for surf or not. I find them easier to play, to be honest, that bit of extra resisteance certainly makes double picking a whole lot easier and the tone does seem to improve. Your fingers will toughen up pretty swiftly, I reckon.
I still use roundwounds, though, rather than the flats that so many seem to favour. One day, I may try a set on one of my Jags.

Yes i will stick with the 10's, maybe I'll go higher eventually. I think my picking has improved, it seems easier on the faster more flammy bits.

11 Round Wounds - Used D'Addario's Blues/Rock 11's for over 10 years easily. Reliable, inexpensive and sound/feel great.

I just threw a set of .10's on my Mosrite, I'm still undecided whether or not I like it.
I like how much easier it is to bend, but I feel like I'm missing the fullness and resonance of .11's.
I'll leave these on for a few days and see how I feel.

I have 9's or 9.5's on my strat(i forget), and have a set of D'Addario XL Chromes flat wound 11-50's that I am thinking of putting on. Good move or not?
