I like that theme too but way prefer the original recording. Great movie as well.

I too prefer the original too.Great song by the way.I've never heard this film score.

Reverb, It's A Way Of Life!

Have any surf bands done a cover of this song yet? Because if they have not, someone definitely needs to do this one.

Jeremy

I worked on that one intensively with a drummer and got pretty far along. In fact, it was the focus of our attempt at forming a band last year ("Boccaccio 70"). There are several 'canonical' recorded versions extant; I like the one with the ironic-sounding middle part in the major chords. It's got a deceptive rhythm and I never learned the bass part, just concentrating on the arpeggiated guitar part and 'neapolitan' melody. This song has a lot of depth to be plumbed and bears very close listening. It's an absolute blast to get two guitars in synch on it.
John Zorn's Naked City featuring Bill Frizzell does an excellent version in a slightly jazzy mode with very sophisticated voicing. I would hate to hear anyone speed it up too much or simplify its snaky chromatic progressions, or some slob like Slash attempt it with distorto-tone (as he did Rota's "Godfather" theme).

Squink Out!
