was listening to the AOL SURF Channel (which can be found at http://player.play.it/player/aolPlayer.html?v=5.0.32&ur=1&us=1&id=917)
and then a song by THE FIREBALLS called "SNEAKERS" came on
it's on their "GUNSHOT" album
great tune, and suddenly, it breaks into that familiar "surf riff" in the song by BLONDIE called "ATOMIC" - sounds essentially note for note!
first time I'm hearing this FIREBALLS tune, btw (others may be more familiar with it already), so this is quite an epiphany of sorts, for me
one can sample "SNEAKERS" here:

for those who may not know the BLONDIE tune "ATOMIC" (which I always felt was a "surf"-riff-filled song), check out the video here:

btw I worked for Chrysalis Records 1978-1982 as their Publicist, based out of their NY Office. "Atomic" was part of an adventurous project -- we did a video for every song on BLONDIE's "EAT TO THE BEAT" album!! For its time, that was pretty much unheard of. It was a big financial investment and was done because MTV was just getting off the ground at the time. I had the good fortune of being present when many of the videos were shot.
