Mr. Squonky1 has done it yet again. He's posted at least 4 videos of Dick Dale from 1994.

Does anyone recognize the band? Is that Ron Eglit on bass? Who is the drummer?

Hmmm, he probably removed it because I posted the names of the songs. He might re-upload with the song titles on the video.
It was some song I can't remember, followed by Taco Wagon, and Esperanza.

He's still got some of the DD vids up. I'm too lazy to make a playlist right now, but just go here and then click on his videos:

That is Ron Eglit on bass & I think the drummer's name is Dave?
Definitely not the same stage presence or command that Dick seems to have usually. Kind of a "transitional" Dick Dale... A little goofy at times.
I wonder if that is a different guitar. I know it's 1994 recording equipment, but the tone seems different. Especially when he switched to the neck pickup.
Also, no tuner, no stickers, different marking at the 12th fret, etc????

When and why did Dick stop playing with the full blown rhythm section?
Also is their any live concert footage of Dick Dale with the Deltones?

Yes, he plays Miserlou in a very boring movie about boxing called "Swingin' Affair" from 1963. Dick is quite dynamic as usual in this clip but the "dynamic" Deltones are a little less so...

There's also great footage of him playing four songs at a surf stomp at the Rendezvous Ballroom from around '63. Interesting to note that the only "surf" song he plays is Miserlou. The other three songs are the corny vocal Greenback Dollar which he sings, Sandy Nelson's Teenbeat which he plays drums on and All Night Long which he plays sax on!

This video was posted a day ago. Dick breaks a string and then has to change it. He talks about his strings and then they bring him a spare guitar. So that explains the guitar mystery.
