We've been in the studio and thought to share some of what we've tried re the guitars. I split the signal and ran one side of mine to an El Sonido 2 12's and a G-Verb with med-heavy wash. The other side to a Surfer 2 15's and a second G-Verb with only a light wash. The results are very exciting...we did find that some mic's worked better on one amp then the other.
Our other guitarist plays through a Matchless set for crunch..the interplay of his thick tone with the Gomez overload sounds quite charming in a rip your face off kinda way...anyway I wanted to show some love for Dario's amps..can't wait to see what he comes up with next...need to start saving $$ now

And by G-Verb you probably mean G-Spring, hahaha...
Looking forward to having my face ripped off!

Man, I keep doing that! It's my latent desire to own a G-Verb amp w/ a 15" in it.
I hope to get a clip soon to post..not all face ripping as we have a kinder gentle side also

Wow, a Sonido and a Surfer?! Now that's what I call BIG SURF!
I'm really looking forward to recording with my Gomez G-reverb amp, but I tend to record in fairly small spaces.

I would think that the G-Verb would be a great amp to record with.
We just got a wild hair about seeing what we could come up with using both amps..settings changed for different songs but often had the Surfer between 7-8 and The Sonido lower at 5-6....small room also and instead of putting the amps in the amp closet, we set em up in the recording room and I played a lot of my parts in the control room to save my ears.

I can't wait to hear how this sounds on record. I've pondered using multiple amps to record with but, for my particular style/tastes, I'm usually happiest with a small-ish head (Champ, Princeton, etc.) driving one big speaker. I imagine that mic selection and placement is a little more complicated using two separate amps.

I'll try and post the info (have to ask)..I know that the engineer swapped mic's a few times and ended up with a different one for each amp. Both amps were in the same somewhat small room and the idea was to get a blend but not a total overlap of sound..if that makes sense

I should have a song sample and more info on how we recorded in a day or two thanks to Harry my bandmate.

That sounds great! Love the other tracks too! For some reason I thought you would have flipped the SGV by now. (Although with that tone, I don't know how you could...)

Hah..true enough. I've really gotten attached to both the SGV and my SG2...The frets on the SGV are pretty tall and at first I didn't like that but the tall frets have helped me develop a lighter left hand whic is a good thing.

That sounds amazing! Really excellent playing by the whole band. Thanks so much for posting this - The Wedge is one of my all-time favorites.
I'm curious to know what gauge strings you have on your SGV. I have one that doesn't get much play-time right now (I think I bought it from you last summer) because I'm used to heavy strings and these guitars, like Mosrites, don't seem to gel with heavy gauges.

I use Pyramid 11's on my guitars I like them a lot because I don't have to change them so often

Flatwound, I'm assuming? I've heard good things about Pyramid flats from several people. I keep using Chromes because that's what the local shops always have in stock.
In any case, I just love the sound of all that Gomez gear...BIG SURF!
My G-spring and G-verb are scheduled to arrive this Friday. Unfortunately, I won't be able to play through either until Tues. because I'll be in Chicago all weekend.
