Permalink Replacement Yamaha SGV pickups ???

New Topic

Anybody have any experience in Replacement Yamaha sgv pickups? I feel that the worst part in my SGV 800 is pickups.

I like SGV shape, tremolo, neck and so on...

May be any lipsticks or p90-type pickups improve sound?

Dimitry

Dont do that,I felt bad some times with that, but believe me the stock pu are good enough to surf-instro-punk-ska and so on.
Try different eq,remind that the Yamaha pu are louder than the Fenders,so may be not getting volume & master full!!
I think all the goodness of that cheap-well done guitar,it looks hot too!!!

OK, may be....

also i like sound of SGV800 neck pu, but dont like bridge pu at all Mad

I would be tempted to put some white DeArmond 2K or GFS ones in there.

SSIV

very interesting .... about deArmond pu.

it seems its possibile to buy this pu only on Ebay (for oversees byers)..

dimxl: Angela Instruments may have them in white. Bummer is, I just sold a pair...

They turn up on eBay, though. They have a P90-ish sound. But unique.

Unique would suit the Yamaha, I think. I have two guitars with 2Ks and they sound all right to me. I just happen to have an illustration that I did handy so you can see if they will fit:

I'd like to buy some yamaha SGV800 pickups if I can. I don't know who made them or what their output is but I really like them. All I know is that they are P90 style Alnico V pickups. Anyone have some they want to sell?
