Permalink The Beloved Invaders (of Colorado, not the originals)

New Topic

Warning: Digital Camera Sound.

From the Boulder Mall back in June 2009.

Prelude "Moto Andante" (part) and Mr Moto (Mr. Moto)

Tamarindo (original)

Respeto a la Tierra (cover of a piece by the Conjunto Cespedes)

These guys are at http://www.thebelovedinvaders.com and http://www.myspace.com/thebelovedinvaders and, yes, they do kind of like the Ventures, although I suspect the Beloved Slacktone was a close second when they were pondering names.

Miserlou - The Beloved Invaders at Red Rocks (6/18/2007)

(Scott is cutting a swathe through Denver upright circles, too.)

From the Beloved Invaders' annual Christmas Show, this year at Zio Romolo's Alley Bar in the Highland neighborhood of Denver, CO, on Dec. 4, 2010. Zio Romolo's a/k/a Pasquini's NW. Good beer and pizza. Nice early 20th Century US eastern city residential/shops neighborhood. Ambience good. Parking a bit tight.

Apache
Scooter Girl (Original)
Changing Tides

Don't know if I'll get to include any of the Christmas numbers.

Bob Cannistraro has always played a heck of a nice version of Apache.

"You can't tell where you're going if you don't know where you've been"

Apache

Here with Sonic Chris, Johnny Kongo and Sad Barry (" I don't play a musical instrumentÂ…I play drums. ... ") in the mix. Unsteady Freddie's video.

Why am I always out of town when the good bands play!!!!!!

I believe it's a corrollary of the Heisenberg Unsurfainty Principle. Either that or you're not on their mailing lists.

Um, just out of curiosity, which bands are you always in town for?

Very Happy

Oh you know... Tech N9ne, Lady Gaga, Yonder Mountain...

I think the problem is I don't know who the good bands are that play here.
Is there a master list somewhere of who I should be going to see, like these guys?

I don't think so, but if you find one, please can I see it? Knowing Delmar Hartman helps. He's as close as I've found. Otherwise, when you find a good band cling to them like a leach. The Beloved Invaders and the Aquasonics have (e)mailing lists, which helps.

Another Invaders video:

Diamond Head (with 30 second "prelude in Diamond sharp")

More from December 4, 2010 at Zio Romolo's.

Kaikoura (an original from their second CD)

Dark Eyes

Run Don't Walk/Sleighride

Rosarito Three Day

Well, I think the Invaders are back at Zio Romolo's on the 22nd of January, if this is one of the bands you had in mind. And I think the Royal Aces are at the Celtic in Parker next week (7th). I think probably "Sonic" Chris on bass still. He's stood in on bass for every surf band in Colorado except, I think, the Aquasonics. The call may come yet.

"We'd like to do a little thing we refer to as the Spy Set."
Finale: Pipeline & Misirlou

I've really been enjoying each of these videos Tuck. Their covers are impeccable. More impressive that they handle all this material as a trio.

Walk Don't Run Astutely, but unfortunately cut off just where it morphs to Lullaby of the Leaves for the middle part. Personally I've always loved the way Susan Yasinski morphed to Jezebel that one time.

Driftwood (original) Unsteady Freddie Prods!

Sleep Walk (Santo & Johnny 1959)
Carefully edited to include a gratuitous sample chord with the vintage tape echo unit. Also, includes a side conversation with a kid who thought I might prefer to video him instead. Westminster has more hams per square foot than most places in Denver.

Mr Mototo (Belairs 1962)
I gather Bob decided to see how Mr Moto would sound with the tape echo unit left on. By now I really should know which vintage tape echo unit it is, but I forget.

Sandy Surfsonic and crew sitting in the back, talking with a guy who though the guitar work was a lot like Guns & Roses.

Nice, Tuck!

Even with that kid yammerin' on like a monkey, that vid of Sleep Walk is sensational.

Moto w/ echo sounds neat at some points... maybe not so much at other points. Great playing, regardless of the effect in use.

Thanks for taking & posting!!
