I have made a little test video showing me playing "Into The Blue Sparkle" to give an example of how to play the song, and to show it's possible to get a good sound recording directly. The video is of low quality... I'm just using the built in camera in my laptop. I plan to get a real camera and do this type of thing properly in the future. I'll make this available for a very short time. Maybe it will get some of you playing your guitars this weekend!

That's really cool Dave! Have you seen Ferenc's videos on YouTube? You could use the 'tube's "annotation" feature like Ferenc does to add comments and call out chords, etc.
Nice!

Cool Dave, thanks for posting that. I see you're heading up to NorCal in June. Do you have details on when and where around the Bay Area?

Dave thanks I love that song. Wish I had bigger hands to wrap around for the bass notes ala (Richie Blackmore) like you but I'll manage. Thanks for sharing.

No amp, he is recording direct. As for effects, reverb unit and a CMAT Compressor and those are run into his Apogee audio interface and recorded with Logic Studio.

I'm not using an amp. The direct sound I'm getting with the guitar is done with a Fender Reverb Unit into a CMATMODS Compressor... the brown one, then into the Apogee Ensemble interface, then I've got some plugins. The first is a Space Designer that can be used for Impulse Response Convolutions of real Amps. In this case, a 1965 Fender Super Reverb with 6L6 power tubes. These IR's were made in a top studio, and are pretty cool. You don't have to have that to get a good sound direct, though. Then, more plugins set up to control dynamics, EQ, efx, and stuff.
I've put an extra page showing the recording setup. Link is below the video.
The guitar has a Mastery Bridge on it now, but I don't remember if it did in November when I made the video. I put a Mastery on it when I went to play that Link Wray Rumble.
thanks everyone, hope you get something out of it.
