During my surfing wandering on the net, I found this... I didn't know what it was but I've finaly find out.
It can be realy fun for practicing (even if it's short scale)... what do you think ?
Fender Jazzmaster champ (japan):
image
Specs:
- Scale: 610mm (646mm is usual long scale)
- Pickups: Jazzmaster.
- Body: Basswood
- Neck: Maple
- Fretboard: Rosewood
- Frets: 21
- Controls: Volume, Tone, 3 way switch.
- Weight: 2.8kg
- Nut Width:42mm
- Amp with normal or distortion effect built in.
- Can be used with a normal amp.

"This is a Fender Japan JM Champ. It has a built in speaker and amp but of course can be plugged into an amp. These have a short scale so you can take it any where in its special soft case. It is not much bigger than if you were to carry a set of cricket stumps, or your base ball bat if thats your sport. The built in speaker is plenty loud enough for practice and a sing song with a few people if thats what you want but get this, flick the switch to the third position and it not only plays with distortion also, and even cooler, when its plugged into an amp the distortion effect works through the amp.

It has one Jazzmaster Pickup and you will be amazed at the sounds you can get get from this single pickup with just a volume and tone control. Its almost like you can get a mellow bridge pick up strat sound all the way to twangy tele sound. It has a really cool little battery compartment like all guitars that have batteries should where you you can just pop out the battery with out messing around with screwdrivers. The only thing with it is that your mates will probably make fun of you at first until they hear it. "

The one time I played in Japan I nearly bought one of those. It's real name is the Champ 10.

They weren't that expensive--around 400 bucks back in 1999. A long time ago I had a Teisco TRG-1, which was sort of the grandpa of that guitar, and the Fender made me very nostalgic for the ol' beast.

The pickup isn't a JM, though--it's some kinda' humbucker. It does sound pretty good, though. I didn't know you could use the distortion through an amp too; I thought it just blasted through the little speaker.

Still kinda' regret not buying one, although I REALLY wanted was the guitar my boss took home with him--A Teisco Spectrum 5 reissue! Drool
