Some of you have met me in my travels across the country, going to Slacktone shows in California and Colorado, Madeira shows all over the Midwest so you know I appreciate a good band. Don't blast me for any of those either, as it has been building for a few years and my taste buds may have changed. I really like darker beers and tend toward higher gravity ones. Michigan beers are EXTREMELY underrated. Internationally, I tend to like Baltic porters and those from eastern Europe. Some like Baltika 6, Aldaris Porteris, and Zyweic I can find for very reasonable prices and taste exceptional.
Ok.... I'll shut up now.

The Big Dogs here are Stone Brewing Co. (they treated us great when we headlined their stage in Escondido), Pizza Port (they win every competition they enter), and Karl Strauss (love their "Endless Summer" and "Woodie Gold" lagers). In the Summer, I buy 'em by the case at Costco.

If you're in San Diego, that is arguably the beer capital of the United States. Not only is Stone in the area, but beer geeks really seek out Ale Smith, Lost Abbey, and others. I have some Green Flash beer as well I haven't opened yet. Most of my beer I drink is on my trips, because I load up on stuff I can't get here. The next time I go to Orange County, I will have to get the the Bruery.
I seen someone post about the Speakeasy Brewery. I wish I had gotten there, I opened their stuff at home and the hoppiness of their IPAs is terrific. And yes, San Francisco is also a first rate beer city... Russian River's Pliny the Elder I've been told is the 6th rated beer in the world.
Note to people near Wisconsin going to Colorado: Coloradans really seem to like microbrews. I brought about 3 cases of New Glarus there and was virtually treated like a god. Do this and you will make many new friends there, I guarantee it.

Speaking of surf music and beer:

Notice how the one shot that features me I totally screw up - the intro to Misirlou too much 13% beer.

At the convention last year, I found that these go down REALLY well with a plate of fish tacos from Wahoos, half a block from the HB pier.

Wish I could get it here.
At my parents for Thanksgiving (in Tennessee), I had to make a beer run nd what to my wondering eyes should appear????
which I love, but until then thought they didn't ship east of the Mississippi river. Turns out they send to TN and NC, so I'm stocking up whenever I hit either of those two states.
Still.......nothing beats my favorite.

It depends what type of Bourbon Cask Ale you're talking about. As for the 666 beer beings a steel reserve type of beer, I probably would just get a few cans for the novelty of the thing. Bluegrass Brewing Company in Kentucky makes a beer called Horse Piss, and I bought a few bottles to give to my brother and other friends as a sort of joke.
When I was in Eureka California I stopped at Lost Coast Great White. Had a great flavor and thought it would be amongst the ultimates in lawnmower beers. Probably could down a few on the beach in the hot sun quite easily, I generally like heavier beers but that was a good one. The label on the bottle also has a shark biting into a surfboard. I'm surprised no one has posted it yet.
