I just got Wavelab Studio 6 and installed today. Wow! I have no idea what I'm doing yet, but loaded a wave file and added multi-band compressor "FM Radio" preset is amazing. I'm printing the manual and will read, but if there are Wavelab users here willing to offer their expertise...I know I will have many questions.

Thanks,

Bill

Love Wavelab. I feel like I will always use it somehow.

Have you created a custom preset of plugins for most tunes? - Mult-band compressor, stereoexpander, maximizer, peak limiters? I'm reading the manual now, but if there are some settings you seem to always use, please send me a note. Also, do you use the Meta Normalizer in the Montage to level tunes before rendering a CD? Thanks.

No, I do not do that. I use Cubase for that kind of stuff mostly. In that software when you save your project all that stuff gets saved also. If I ever apply VST channels in Wavelab, it is for quick and dirty file manipulation only. I use Wavelab primarily for mastered stereo files for things like like trimming stick clicks and intros/outros, fading in/out, increasing/decreasing gain globally, rendering to MP3, or doing hasty multitrack, etc. and I do not save the presets.

From my software (an earlier version of Wavelab than yours most probably) I would go to File>Favorites>Functions>Add Current Document. I think that saves the plugin data, anyhow.

In Wavelab 6, to save all the mastering plugins you've applied to your tune, you have to "render" it using the button on the Master section. Doing Save As just allows you to change the name before you render. You should rename your file before you do it though, or it will change the file.
