Hello all, I'm having problems with a new project guitar and I need some help.
I bought the new Aria DM-380 for modding purposes, it's a mosrite looking knock off with strat features (strat trem, fender scale). To my surprise, it sounds really good, twang with gibson type beef, so I really like the guitar.
But of course it comes with loads of problems one being the bridge, it's a fender style 2 pivot synchronized tremolo. It does this crazy rattling sound on some strings and the trem arm feels like crap, so I thought of changing it...
... but the pivots are distanced 2.5" instead of the usual 2.2". So I can't just pop in a replacement (damn design).
So I think I have only two choices (or a third expensive one).
1 - Get a Fender regular 6 screws-trem bridge and screw in only the middle 4 screws as the two outter ones are blocked by the pivot shafts.
2 - Change the saddles and block but keep the original plate where they are connected, going this route I have to hope that the new block will have its screw holes at the right place to connect to the bridge plate.
The string spacing of the bridge is 2 1/16".
3 - Expensive option : fill the holes with some wood and start over (really can't afford to have this done).
Any help at all would be appreciated.
