Right now, I'm looking at Musician's Friend (low-high pricing), and in consideration for my first tube amp =
-Hot Rod DeVille 212 @ $749.99
-65 Deluxe Reverb @ $799.99
-Custom Vibrolux @ $999.99
Or would I do better saving up the extra $100, and go for the 65 Twin Reverb @ $1099.99?
I'll be looking for something I can gig with, as at home I'll likely record DI with either my Crate PowerBlock, or a Line6 Guitar PODxt Pro. Whenever I'm able to get myself setup into a better recording location, I'll play/work with amp. mic'ing techniques.

Get a Twin Reverb over any of those. Also I would suggest a Super Reverb over any of those amps although the Super probably won't have enough head room to play live. The Vibrolux won't be enough, the Deluxe Reverb really won't be enough, and a Hot Rod isn't what you will really be looking for. Great sounding amp but I wouldn't make it a surf amp. If I were in a rock band I'd tour with one of those since they something you won't feel bad about banging up.
You'll save a ton if you get one off ebay. If you get on off ebay I suggest a Vibroverb. Great sounding amp you can get for $700.
And when you record DI at home still use the tube amp.
I would never record DI. I would always do it through the amp. You can isolate your amp enough to make it okay for a location near other people. I would suggest getting a good mic to do this.

I'd recommend saving another hundred beyond a Twin and go with the Twin Reverb Custom 15 -- it's very similar to a Showman setup as a combo.
Also, an SM-57 will do you well for home recording. There are many mics that are much better, but you'll wind up dropping major coin for them.

Definitely go with the Twin Reverb reissue...a great all-around amp for gigging and recording.

I put a Custom 15 into my Musician's Friend wish list...only to remind me of the amp I want, really. I can only hope that I can find an Epiphone ES-295, or a Gretsch Electromatic G5127 to test drive, along with the Custom 15. Otherwise, I'm sure that my soon to be upgraded Fender Standard Telecaster, and soon to be mine then upgraded Fender Standard Stratocaster will sing just fine, through the Custom 15. A handful of good/upgraded to good guitars, a handful of purposefully selected effects and a screamin' good combo amp, and all will be well with my future world of initially being a one-man-band.

The 65 Twin Reverb is the best combo out there! I found mine on ebay a reissue in killer shape for $550 with a buy it now, the seller was new so know one would buy it now, he lived about 80 miles north from me so I took a chance and bought it now and made arrangments to pickup the amp and hand the dude $550 smackers so ebay is the best place to find a good priced twin under $1,000

As much as I love the sound of a Twin, you gotta ask yourself just how much power you're going to need. If high volume headroom is what you're after, then go Twin, all the way. If you're talking bedroom jamming or garage rocking, then a Deluxe Reverb or Super Reverb would fit the bill just as well. The newer Vibroluxes wouldn't be a bad option, either.
