Permalink Song: A Thousand Miles Away

New Topic

I really like this song. I don't know if it was written by Santo & Johnny, but theirs is the version I have. I was wondering if anyone else (instrumental) has recorded this tune.

What's interesting about the song is that it swipes a riff from their own cover of "In the Still of the Night" another 50's tune. However the melody is completely different and much sweeter.

So any info o the song, or other performers would be greatly appreciated. I hope everyone is having a good summer.

Ciao

blimey, I put this in the wrong forum.

I've often been asked if I could play a thousand miles away... Rolling Eyes

Ok. You asked for it. Here's a version from Dokken from the good ole' metal days. ;D

Paul Johnson does a fantastic version of it on the import CD, "American Graffiti Revisited". It also has "The Deoras" terrific version of "Since I Don't Have You". Go to pjmoto.com and see if Paul has any more CD's.

It's funny all the stars from than and now... had one or two hits--in fact they had tons of great songs never to really make it. I own many albums of Santo and Johnny (yes, many !!- although most of the people know them only for Sleepwalk. Years ago i decided no to buy CDs likje BEST OF.. but usually or if possible- COMPLETE RECORDINGS OR RARE SIDES... iT'S sad that all those materials is usualyl unofficially released on bootlegs... why?? becuase nobody really wants to think about music collectors and fans, they are spending times on making MTV stars Very Happy well that's ok , too.. as long as i get my stuff ha ha
