I read a post awhile back about a different way to use your tank with a fender amp. I tried looking for it and couldn't find it.

Anyway, I used to run my bank between my guitar and vibrato side input one. This weekend I ran my guitar directly into vibe 1, then ran a patch chord from vibe to the tank and out to normal 1. It have to stay I was stunned at the difference!! Shocked The reverb was much easier to control, and I was experimenting at having the tank full out and using the treble pot in the normal input to control the "mix". IT GROWLS!! I am convinced that this is the way to go tone wise for me, but the amp now buzzes even when in positions 2 and 4 on my strat. It's not much but enough to be picked up by a mic during recording.

eh??

Sounds fascinating -- so lemme see if I've got this right as far as the signal chain goes....

guitar --> Vibrato input 1
vibrato Channel 2 ----> tank
tank -----> Normal input 1

is that right?

Yeah, sorry about the confusion

Oh, no worries, man.

I have seen people do these kinds of rigging tricks in the past with bridging the normal and reverb channels on Twins, but hadn't heard of it being done with a tank.

Anyone else tried it? Sounds fascinating...

Yes, I tried it at Tina's party, when I got the opportunity to use Mac's showman. Sounded great. You can't do it in "reverb" amps (in a consistent way, that is) becasue of the phase difference between the channels - in certain settings there will be a completely hollow sounds (from the 2 channels cancelling each other), and in others the two channels will combine properly.
Works great on the non reverb amps. Or there is a mod to have the reverb amps' channels with same phase (this will also put the onboard reverb on both channels).

When you do run it this way, you can run the mix on the tank at 10, and then use the volumes of the 2 channels to do the mix.

Have fun,

I'm having a problem. THE BUZZ IS OUT OF CONTROL.

My Showman head still has the two prong pug and the tank is a RI. Will replacing the showman plug fix the buzz??

the buzzing got out of control on mine and it was the 6V6 tube

I tried the input 1 and 2 looping trick on my 63 blonde bandmaster + RI tank.....worked great, no noise/buzz. I do have a 3-prong plug on it though.

I've been testing playing through the bandmaster+tank and signal split via A/B box to a crate powerblock just dry signal (cab is a crate with celestion 12" made especially for the Powerblock).

I've just tried this config at bedroom levels, but sounds fantastic.

It doesn't buzz when it's play directly into the amp, it's when I daisy chain the reverb betweeb the normal and vibrato inputs.

The buzz was bearable at low volumes. When i got it up to playing volume with the rest of the guys, it was very noticable an annoying. It's only when the signal goes quiet or idle, when I'm playing you can't hear it.
