Although I'd planned to buy a Fender '72 Telecaster Deluxe, for live playing of whatever I create with my Fender So Cal Speed Shop Strat, I got to thinking about all of the guitars I'd tried on Monday, and realized that the P-90 Gibson SG will do just fine in that role. One less guitar to buy, with which I can either put that "savings" toward a piece of recording gear, or toward my first tube amp!
Now once I start selling off the guitars I've mentioned before, and start revamping my collection into an arsenal, I'll top out at 15 instead of 16. I finally ordered the Bigsby B5 for my Epiphone Les Paul Jr. 90, and as soon as I have the chance, I'll be taking it to IRC Music for its transformation into my dare-to-be-different surf guitar. Any surf leads I do with that can easily be covered, for gigging, by the Gibson Les Paul Faded Double Cutaway (to which I'll also add a Bigsby B5) that I'll buy in two or three months.
This will also mean that, out of all the electric guitars, in my future 15 guitar arsenal, only 1 will be humbucker equipped...and a single bridge humbucker, at that! It'll be interesting whenever I actually get a band together, in the future, to see what the mix of guitars will end up being, and to hear how any of my originals that we cover will end up sounding live.
