Permalink Eliminated 1 more guitar from my to-buy list!

Although I'd planned to buy a Fender '72 Telecaster Deluxe, for live playing of whatever I create with my Fender So Cal Speed Shop Strat, I got to thinking about all of the guitars I'd tried on Monday, and realized that the P-90 Gibson SG will do just fine in that role. One less guitar to buy, with which I can either put that "savings" toward a piece of recording gear, or toward my first tube amp!

Now once I start selling off the guitars I've mentioned before, and start revamping my collection into an arsenal, I'll top out at 15 instead of 16. I finally ordered the Bigsby B5 for my Epiphone Les Paul Jr. 90, and as soon as I have the chance, I'll be taking it to IRC Music for its transformation into my dare-to-be-different surf guitar. Any surf leads I do with that can easily be covered, for gigging, by the Gibson Les Paul Faded Double Cutaway (to which I'll also add a Bigsby B5) that I'll buy in two or three months.

This will also mean that, out of all the electric guitars, in my future 15 guitar arsenal, only 1 will be humbucker equipped...and a single bridge humbucker, at that! It'll be interesting whenever I actually get a band together, in the future, to see what the mix of guitars will end up being, and to hear how any of my originals that we cover will end up sounding live.

Hey man, STOP BUYING SHIT.

Seriously, wtf are you doing? What kind of band do you plan on starting? It might be a wiser idea to wait till your band is formed to see what kinda gear you need.

If it is a surf band you don't really need any of that stuff. If you want to be more experimental, maybe your mind will change when you have other musicians to work with.

ps if you want to keep buying shit, buy my american tele. It has a nice twangy sound to diversify your sound Razz

My unsolicited advice: sell 10 of those guitars and buy a really good one. Take the left over money and add it to your amp budget. Then get started forming a band as soon as you can. It may take a year to find players as it is, start now.
