So, how does a little no-name band get some airtime on your show?
So, how does a little no-name show get to play your band?
It is as simple my friend as sending a CD to:
WPGU FM
ATTN: Chuck Allen - Surfabilly Freakout!
512 E. Green St.
Champaign, IL 61820
or firing an .mp3 to me at: jetsterling@ameritech.net
Thanks!
Oh, and I encourage others to do the same

Hopefully, it's not a bad thing at all . It goes back to when I originally made the post. There was a party at my place on a Saturday where I played a guy (who worked at a radio station) my surf collection. He called me Monday and said, "Dude, we got a show and we are on Wednesday night". So, in about 48 hours we had to come up with a name and put a show together for a station (and a local audience) that was not too familiar with the genre. Let's just say that there was a little excitement, and panic, in the title of the thread.
I got a lot of support from the folks here at SG101 who really helped form the show...and through two cancellations and two student/station staff uprisings (which brought us back), we're still at it! And still having a blast!

What happens when they close the University down for break and leave us in the studio to run things...well, a 1-hour Freakout! show magically becomes 2!
Thanks to guest DJ Floppy Johnson for coming in on the eve of his vasectomy and describing the upcoming prep at procedure in clinically accurate detail.
Also, adios to our a big part of the team...Surf Jesus - who leaves us to milk salmon in Northern California.
For those that heard the Holiday Spectacular and gave us heat about not playing the thrilling conclusion to "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"...hope you heard this show as we replayed the clips...this time, with the ending!
