I think they're great. I have or have had the following sets of Strat pickups in various Strats in the past 18 months and the CS '54s are among my favorites. The only downside is they don't have a reverse wound middle so they aren't hum canceling in pos 2 & 4. Impressive list. I'd be interested to know how you think the CS '54s, which |

I forgot to mention a set of '57/'62 pups. IMO, the CS '54s are well worth the extra money over the GFS Alnicos ( http://store.guitarfetish.com/pralstpiourb.html ). The '54s have a great woody clear tone without being ice picky. I scored a new in the box set on ebay for around $110 shipped, but I'm in the U.S. I read on the FDP site that the CS '54s were originally used in their Custom Shop '60s Strats (relics, NOS, closet classics) until they reformulated a new set after which the CS '54s were rebranded and sold over the counter to us schlubs. Here are the actual measurements of the set I have installed. As you can see, they measure very closely to other vintage voiced pickups, but they have a distinct tone all their own. Bridge: 6.33k By the way, I heard the clips of your modified Hot Rod Deluxe and was very impressed with how "surfy" it sounded. You did a great job with that amp. I have 57/62's now, but I have another strat that I may put the 54's in. |

I've got all the variations of Fender Pups and the '54's are my fav. They are the ones installed in the Fender Dick Dale signature. can't get much Surfier than that. |

I have CS69's in my 82 Strat. I love em. Would be curious to hear the 54's. |

Well, not sure just yet. I put on 10-52's on it and don't like the D, A, E strings. Too muddy after having 10-46's on my other strat. Going to change out those and get back to you. |

Lace holy grails for the tone of a '54' strat w/o the 60 cycle hum is how they're toted. |

I just bought a set of Lace Hot Golds and am hoping they are all they claim over at the FDP Pup Tent. Got them for $110 shipped so I thought I'd give them a shot. —Cats 'n' Strats, 'cause that's how I roll - I eat reverb for breakfast! Fenderus Collecticus |
