Remember the radio show "Surf Wave" with Jim Dunfrund? It was on KXLU Thursday evenings from 1981 till 2003.
Starting in 1989 I made a point of recording his show on stereo cassette tapes-- FANATICALLY. I missed a few shows, but got 85% or so.
Then I'd edit out the blabber, and the more common/boring songs. I ended up with around 240 ninety minute cassette tapes (all hi-def tapes, about half are "metal" grade).
It's 99% instrumental surf (no Beach Boys or softcore) and a number of live performances from the KXLU studio.
I can't really find blank cassettes easily, so I gave up this practice.
Does anyone have knowledge of or have interest in digitizing all this.
I'm no recording engineer or musician but I do believe anyone into surf music would find this collection a goldmine.

Hi Tashload,
Give Steve a shout at: http://www.chromeoxide.com/
If he can't, he might be able to guide you to who can.
Cheers,
Biily

Hey,Tashdale read your post from 9/28/08 . I have some Surfwave comp
tapes from the mid 90's . Do you recall a song Jim would play around
94/95 that had a long Latin tip surf intro then a monoloque in a silly
Spanish accent about "Searching for Araban" (?) and "I drank too much mezcal
and so did Burrito, my horse. . I fell onto a cactoos. . . " Any idea who the artist is? Anybody?
Gracias
