Is the offset up and down measured from the center of the necks? My "DoubleMaster" drawing ended up with about 4 1/4" center to center....

It is on center. Warmoth was about 4.89" (thick 4-7/8 ). You can do a mockup out of cardboard to see how that would fit and it can be adjusted because nothing is written in stone on these double necks in the link below. http://surfneptune.com/Doublehigh.html In this pic you can see it's whatever fits. To answer the light body question, Swamp Ash will be the choice I made. I was going to order 2 blanks pre router, then cut them to size and glue them together, but the cost is toooooo much. There are some local wood supply warehouses (Higgin's and OrePac) who have the stuff by the truck loads. I'll be back with that cost option later. In the mean time I gotta go find a Tele and do the Dims off it and start the template. On with the maddness. |

Note: That mosrite univox double is hard to play, it is un-ballanced, too tight between the necks, and In my opinion it is better to have the guitar on the bottom, I am fairly tall and find that the guitar on the bottom fell roughly where I would wear a strat anyway, and PLaying bass up a little higher felt easier on my hands... Just to give you considerations when coming up with a design. —THe NEpTuNeS |
