I was running behind at work, and the road down to the end of the Peninsula was jammed packed, as I drove by it on friday. it is an awesome sight and sound to witness in person. Man, what a weird shore break from the jetty past Balboa pier. These huge waves break into just a few feet of water. Folks there were telling me that the waves were as high as the pier last month. Posted on Aug 28 2009 12:34 AM I was sitting at Lookout Point in Corona Del Mar, Overlooking the the Wedge today, watching the Big Surf coming in. its a strait south swell, coming up from a Hurricane out in the Pacific by Mexico, so the Wedge isn't really going off yet, the storm has to go out towards Hawaii more, for the swell to come in at the Wedge at a south west angle for the waves to double up, with the reflections off the jetty. should get better as the weekend proceeds, that being said, the waves at the Wedge were 3 to 6 ft today looked like. — Jeff(bigtikidude) Top
