"It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea

No kidding, even I agree to that and I love going off, but this a blatant attempt to ruin the thread by those who didn't attend. Smile

I guess we are all jealous that we could not attend and are lashing out.. consider me back on track on all threads. Sorry! Cool

Anybody heard from Jaimie (Mad Scientist)???? I'd have figured he'd have jumped in here by now.

The Luau Cinders

Na, haven't yet heard from MS. He was heading up to SF to hang with some buddies from when he lived out there. He'll "surf-ace" soon I'm sure.

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

i do want to mention how good 'the endless summer' was with ferencs' wife karen adding that extra something that separated the song from all the other covers i've heard people do. (sorry i don't know what the name of the instrument she's playing, but it sounded really cool)

great photos brian.

/thread.

Call it what you will, but my band will never come down for it.

Performances are invite only. Didn't see your band on the invite list.

you did good will, at least you didn't do what i did and briefly wander off into a different arrangement of 'penetration'. Embarassed

i really enjoyed all the jams with the mix of people playing together and i hope to get to participate in it again next year.

Hey thanks Carol, I really thought that was special too. She did the part perfectly. I've never seen anyone do that song live before, let alone with a melodica. It startled me for a moment...in a very good way.

I've heard a lot of people liked it. LMAO

I just accidently hit the "most played" category on my iTunes, and it says I've listened to it 113 times!!!

wow, I don't know how to respond to that.
other than, if you were to come to the surf museum for any of the sunday shows, I bet you 60% of the bands play it.

but the version at the convention was the best.
thanks to all, but especially Karen,

I was going over some photos and I just remembered John Blair playing "Moment of Truth" with Bob Colwel on drums. Another awesome moment. Or did I imagine that?

Brian, I think you're seeing photos of a different song...Moment of Truth was Matt, Jeff, Jim Frias and me playing with Bob on drums.
Ran

The Scimitars

Ah thanks Ran. Does there still exist a list of all the jam performances? As you can see things are starting to get cluttered in my mind already. Embarassed

I think it would be OK to transfer the lot to a special thread named "Random Mutterings of the Surf Crazed" or "Round File" for short.

I finally finished putting up what seemed like a reasonable subset of SG101 2009 pictures at http://www.myspace.com/jnokoontz > photos. Ignore the first two sets which are more recent Denver stuff and then it's SG101 and associated events per set names. I'm still struggling with the labelling. Brian, in spite of his modesty on the score, is superman with names compared to me. In all honesty his wife is superwoman on the camera compared to me, too!
